I remember the first time I went into this bar, oh wait, I really don't because I got so hammered that I don't recall much that night. When people say they want to check out dive bars in Houston, I will certainly take them to this place. I just like the fact that there's $2 well until 11PM, which means it's a great place to get fueled up with booze before going elsewhere or stay there and chat with a variety of characters.
Since Lola's Depot is a dive bar, it is best to pay with cash. Yes, they do accept credit card but there's a minimum charge on it. Of course most likely you will reach that minimum in no time but it's always faster with cash as the bar gets busy from time to time. There's also a small bar out on the patio area as well. Sometimes they will have a food truck that serves food too. Back on the inside, there's pool tables where you can simply ask to play the next game and meet new people, that is of course you pay for the game.
Now the restroom is nothing to write about because you can see the pictures and it's a dive bar restroom, as long as it works, then that's good enough. One thing you'll notice is the ceiling and the wall is full of memorabilia and stickers, again, don't get intimidated by this dive-y look. Parking is a hassle as there's only so many street parkings near the bar. So far I had nothing but good times there. When you feel like you are tight on money and still want to get trashed, you should think about coming to this bar for an interesting time...
Read moreI have been a patron of Lola's for many years. I have had a positive experience up to my last two visits. My last two visits have been very interesting in the sense that at the end of the evening when I have gone to close my tab I was not presented with a receipt and I was not able to sign a receipt and the tip was already given based on what they believe the tip should be. I believe as a patron you should be able to sign your own receipts and give your own tip and the moment an establishment gets defensive when you asked for your receipt is the moment that you should be very wary. I confronted the owner of the bar he was incredibly defensive, he went as far as to take money out of his own pocket to give me and tell me I was never allowed back but he never gave me my receipts for me to sign. There was also a moment where the employees of the bar came up to me and circled me as if they were about to start beating me. Everybody who goes to this bar needs to make sure you get your receipt and you fill in your own tip and that you signed the bottom of it otherwise they will do this for you in a very deceitful Manner and they will tip themselves. I should be very clear that I did not walk my tab in fact I hadn't even left...
Read moreI’ve been going here for a long time now. The only issue i have is with one of the bouncers. last night i came with my friends to have some drinks before going to another bar. my friend’s girlfriend did not have her id and only had a picture of it which she could not get in with. the problem is how the bouncer (wears glasses and a bandana) handled the situation. he proceeded to cuss her and the rest of my group out about it which it’s very unprofessional considering she’s never been here before. i wouldn’t have had a problem with him just saying no and not letting her in but he yelled at us, degraded us at the door and cussed her out which is unfair. i got back in to the bar to go talk to the bartenders about it and accidentally pulled the wrong card out and he proceeded to call me names and mock me about it even though it was an honest mistake. i would be cautious about going if he’s there especially if you are a women. i do not have an issue with the rest of the staff since they’re always very kind but they should definitely do...
