The food we got from here was so, so bad. I want to save someone else from having to throw away their meal like we did. We went inside this location and ordered our food to go. Service was eh. Not good but not bad. Restaurant seemed clean. We got fries, tator tots, a mega melt, and a southern fried chicken melt. The fries and tator tots were both incredibly soft (in a bad way) and flavorless. I tried putting them in the air fryer and adding salt but that couldnāt save them. Horrible. The chicken melt had an okay taste but had soggy, hot lettuce and random vegetables on it. They put the vegetables on the sandwich and then put it in the panini press or on the griddle or however they cook it. Iām not sure if thatās how the sandwich is supposed to come, but itās awful. The texture of hot, gooey lettuce is never something I enjoy, personally. The mega melt was so bland I had to laugh. Terrible food. Youād have to actually try to make something so tasteless. Iām impressed. The photo is of the chicken melt. I did eat some. But we threw everything else away....

I recently visited Meltwich Food Co. in Rice Village, and I can confidently say itās a new favorite! I ordered the traditional grilled cheese on sourdough and a side of poutine, and both were absolutely fantastic. The grilled cheese was perfectly golden and packed with rich, gooey cheese, while the poutine was flavorful and indulgent ā comfort food at its finest.
What truly set this experience apart was the owner, who was onsite and incredibly kind. He took the time to walk me through the menu and made thoughtful recommendations, ensuring I got exactly what I was craving. That personal touch made my visit extra special.
Iāll definitely be back to explore more of their menu. If youāre looking for a cozy spot with great food and even better service, Meltwich Food Co....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe tried this new (to us) place in Rice Village after visiting The Teahouse two doors down. The draw was the Hot Mess fries, which I guess is similar to Canadian poutine (maybe?). The gravy and cheese curd topped fries were AMAZING. The gravy that topped it had a lot of beefy flavor and wasn't too salty. We'll definitely be back for more Hot Mess Fries (FYI, it's the Friday special). The normal size is enough for four people to share or one person to eat as a meal.
I got the philly cheese steak and I also recommend this sandwich. I decided to top it with the melt sauce and that was a good choice for me. The sandwich looked small (for being in Texas) but it was definitely enough to fill my stomach.
The place was rather empty for a Friday night, which was surprising. I hope more people try it so it can...
