Teriyaki chicken was very dry and in the sweet and sour chicken it was 90% just very hard breading with tiny dry chicken in the middle, same with crab Rangoon. Beef lo main was decent, but very few noodles and mostly vegetables. Would have been great if there was normal amount of noodles. Plus they were calling from right after I placed the order rushing for it to be picked up, even though it was walk over an hour before they closed when my son got there to pick it up. Over all was very disappointed and felt like I should’ve saved my money. Just posting this so people know what they are getting when they order, because I was fooled by the ratings, so idk if they just were having a bad night and gave us all the old hard food, and were grouchy and this was a one off incident, but I will not take the chance...

Really rough. Houston has a ton of Chinese restaurants mixed with Chinese American restaurants. New Wok fits neatly into Chinese American with an emphasis on takeout. The model relies on few restaurants offering takeout, but with uber eats etc. making waves there must be a lot more competition in this space.

So all of that to say that I think many of the positive reviews are coming from folks that are regulars or don't venture out much in Asian American cuisine. When I've been here, the rice has been overcooked and excessive. More is not better! Orange chicken very bland and overbreaded. Interior of the restaurant is dated and depressing. Haven't been back in years, but I still remember my poor...

First off, I love hole-in-the-wall joints such as this one which I totally forgot about once I moved away to Chicago back on 2006. Back in Houston for over 2 years now, I decided to hit up this joint over the weekend. I ordered a combo plate (general chicken & sweet and sour pork), cheese puffs and a combination fried rice - EVERYTHING was delicious!! I like how the general chicken is crispy and covered in the garlic tangy sauce! The fried rice was delicious and the portions are pretty good as well. The only thing keeping me away from giving this joint 5 stars, it's the fact they serve canned drinks and with that you get no free refills. Definitely going back!!...

Cheap and tasty generic Chinese take-out food!! This place has been here for so long but my boyfriend thought it was a front lol so he never tried it. Well I did! I got the General Tso Chicken, sweet & sour pork, beef and broccoli, fried rice, egg rolls, and crab cheese wontons to-go. Portions were great, considering how other restaurants are putting less. And each plate with fried rice was about $10 w/tax! My to-go order was freshly made and not soggy at all. Flavoring on the Tso and beef was just as expected and great. Pork batter was crispy and not greasy at all. Not my favorite fried rice or crab cheese wontons, but not bad!

New Wok is a mom and pop shop. The ladies at the counter are friendly and I’ve been a regular since my college days. I ordered the Sesame Chicken special which is crunchy and fulfilling. It comes with one drink and no refills. It’s a good way to control how much drinking you give yourself for those who are nonstop guzzlers, no refillable cups. This is a great place to have quiet time to yourself or to read a book and collect your thoughts after work. I would recommend coming here at least once and see how you like it. Decently priced I got mine for 8.10 and it puts you into a food coma after. Lol, no joke.

When you walk in everything looks all outdated and dirty typically that’s the first red flag presentation. Everything is outdated and old and dirty so it makes you wonder what’s going on behind the kitchen. The food did not have no taste. No season very blend , the egg fry looks like four days old when I was eating my soup I kept feeling little rocks of dirt mix in the food.. I will never go again to this nasty pace. I don’t care if it’s cheap.
