Saltgrass Steak House — Restaurant in Houston

My family and I were in town for the night to watch the Astros and the Rays. We decided to dine at Salt Grass location within walking distance to Stadium. We have dined at Salt Grass before and have always had a great experience. However, this visit was an exception to the rule. Now they were but not so much that service and food should be below average. We sat down and order water and drinks for our boys. I decided I would try a specialty cocktail and aksed the waitress if she knew the price of the cocktails I was interested in ordering and she stated she would find out and get back to me. She never did and I walked up to the bar and order the drink myself after finding out the price of each. ( On a side note, not sure why the prices were not clearly printed on the drink menu.) We ordered an our entrees, and waited for them to arrive. My wife ordered the 8 oz sirloin and I ordered the 12 oz ribeye. My oldest son ordered the child's sirloin and our youngest ordered the Mac and cheese. My wife always orders her steak well done and also ordered our son's steak that way. We waited for our food to arrive and in the mean time we ate our salads and enjoyed the atmosphere. I think we waited about 40-50 minutes for our entrées. My steak was cooked perfectly(medium), but my wife's and son's steak was almost raw. We let the server know and they quickly took the steaks back to cook some more. I also asked for the manager and he came over and I explained to him what happened he was apologetic and asked if there was anything he could get us while we waited, for our steaks to be cook properly. We said no and my wife and son waited patiently for there food to come back out. They finally brought the steaks back out and they were cooked better.

Now I don't know what protocol is for a restaurant when they mess up badly, but most chain restaurants and even chain steak restaurants will usually now charge you for the error or at least offer you a dessert or some other type of compensation for your inconvenience and poor service, but this manager did not offer anything but an apology.

Needless to say we will never dine at this Salt Grass ever again and we may never dine at any Salt Grass for that matter. Worst experience at any restaurant...

I was there a couple of Fridays ago and I sat at the bar while waiting for my takeout order (Chicken Laredo - so darn delicious!!) and the bartender Nadine was super amazing!! Her personality and bartending skills are one of a kind!! I've never met a bartender that made me want to come back for more... I was back the following Friday and I brought someone with me so that they could experience being served by one of the best bartenders I've ever encountered. When we sat at the bar she was busy with her back turned and I got her attention by calling out her name and she turned around and when she saw who I was she was so happy to see me that she came from all the way around the bar to give me a big warm welcoming hug!! She's amazing and my friend that I brought had such a wonderful experience that he gave her a generous tip and I was so glad because she deserves it and so much more!! My favorite drink that she made out of all the others - which the others were very good - however, the Grilled Pineapple was the best drink I've ever had in my whole life and I've had many many many many drinks at many many many different bars LOL. So, if you wanna have an enjoyable experience with delicious drinks and flavorful food, I say go to Saltgrass Steakhouse and pray that Nadine is bartending for the best cocktails ever!! For the record, the whole Saltgrass Steakhouse staff are awesome and Jamal (the MGR) is really cool, too. Though, I've only had the Chicken Laredo (Which I highly recommend) I honestly don't think that you can go wrong with anything on the menu because as I looked around at other people's foods on their plates it all looked so darn delicious!! I know this is a long post/review but I had so much great things to say about Saltgrass Steakhouse and their staff (especially Nadine - the bartender;). Thanks Nadine!! you rock and I'm so glad I met you and I'm especially glad I was served by such an amazing bartender!! You deserve all your tips...

We went here on Oct 10 after strolling at discovery green’s houston pumpkin festival with my parents and my 2 sons (a 2 year old and a 4 month old). We were there at around 2:30PM and the receptionist said it’ll be a 30 minute wait since we didn’t have a reservation, I told her we’ll be needing 3 chairs and a high chair (I pointed to my toddler who is on our duo-glider stroller with my infant). It was fine with us to wait, we just walked around outside for our toddler not to be bored. Then at 3:05PM I received a text that our table is ready. So we went back and the receptionist said we will have to wait for another 5 minutes because she didn’t realize that we have a stroller with us (in fact when we all went inside at 2:30PM I was pushing my babies’ stroller which is a huge duo-glider so I don’t know how come she didn’t notice that big of a stroller!) I forgave her for that and so we waited again because she said another 5 minutes. But 5 minutes have passed and still our table’s not ready. After 30 minutes of waiting finally a waiter assisted us to our table, that was 3:35PM already. As we were placing my toddler to a high chair and maneuvering the stroller for it not to block the hallway a waitress approached us, took one chair away and asked us to angle our stroller away from the hallway towards the wall, so I did that and told her to bring back the chair that she took away because we were 3 adults (me & my parents). Then she told me she cannot give us another chair for safety concerns and that she don’t know why we were placed in that area and then she went to the receptionist maybe to ask what to do with us or where to place us. That was 3:45PM already and still they don’t have our table ready, they still don’t have a decision where to put us, and that pissed us off because they had us waited for nothing and so we just left.
