PATIENCE IS KEY
This past Saturday, March 03, 2025, my family and I decided to try this place out. This was our first time experience. It was referred to me by a friend who adores a good day party scene. On a positive note, I can appreciate the diverse environment along with the great music. My family and I got seated fairly quickly considering that we did not plan ahead in making reservations. Our waitress, Jasmine, properly introduced herself. When ordering, my cousin wanted boudin eggrolls. However, she said that it was not on the menu. Yet, it was, but she wasn’t too familiar with boudin eggrolls being on the menu due to her stating that it’s a new item. She apologized.
We placed our order, but there were a few other mistakes that were made in response to our food being delivered in which only gave my family and I a little over 30 minutes to eat and enjoy the mimosa tower. When Jasmine came back to our table to check on us, I informed her that our time is approaching, and we’ve just received our full order. I then asked if there’s something that we could do about this. Her advice was that we better guzzle it down while laughing and walked off. Once I got the opportunity, I flagged her down and asked if she could work with us and briefly extend our time considering the circumstances. She said that I could go back up to the front and try to make additional reservations to finish eating our food and drinking our mimosas at another table. My family could see the frustration on my face. I then went to ask a security guard if he could get the manager for me.
He was kind enough to find me the owner. I was thankful for that. I explained my family and I’s situational concerns to him. I expressed that we are not looking for a discount or anything free. All we wanted was our time increased to finish our order. He granted us an extra hour. I agreed with that solution. I understand that my party and I may not have spent certain monies compared to other tables but were still customers. We were customers who have just suffered from a loss in our family, and we were just trying to make the best out of things by getting some tasty grub and have a good time. I am extremely grateful for my family doing their best to boost up my energy from me maintaining patience after being drained by poor customer service. Overall, it was our waitress, Jasmine that allowed my perspective to change for Chapman & Kirby. If there should be another visit, I may have a better experience with a...
Read moreMy friend got a section here for $200 and they STILL charged his guests $20 person when they came in even tho we had wristbands waiting. The guests even ASKED did they have to pay if they had a section & they were told by a lady at the front that they did. There was 11 people that paid the $20 and we still had 7 wristbands left over. (We got a total of 10 and we had already used 3) So only 4 people were supposed to pay out of pocket & the other 7 were not supposed to pay. They refused to give them refunds even tho they messed up on their part. They made an extra $140 off of our guests on top of already paying $200 for this baby table. Not even a bottle, drinks, OR an extra table were given to resolve the mistake that was made on their behalf. Very disappointing to be done like this by a BLACK BUSINESS. This is why it’s so hard to support.
UPDATE/EDIT: This same night, after requesting to speak with a manager and the manager did not show, a woman I BELIEVE her name was Brittney, showed up to accommodate us on the managers behalf. After deliberating for some time, she agreed that she would issue refunds to the individuals that came and paid, that were supposed to receive wristbands. She let us know that she didn’t HAVE to, but she still did. Big shout out to her for being understanding! She stated that it was our responsibility to be at the front when guests arrived to issue their wristbands. We were unaware when everyone showed up and the person we booked the session with did not state that we had to be at the front for them. I guess it’s common sense, so our bad. Either way however, the lady at the front should not have told the guests that they still had to pay if they were coming to a section. I would also like to emphasize that this issue took about 2 hours to resolve and by that time several of our guests ended up leaving because the vibes were thrown off. Some of us STILL ended up staying, bought 2-3 bottles, and made the best of it. Because the money issue got resolved, I am updating this review from 1 star to 3 stars. My rating would’ve been higher from jump had they issued refunds as soon as the issue was addressed. Also thank you to Khadijah for being an amazing, patient,...
Read moreUpdate (9/23): I only go to this place when my people visit from back home and of course Chapman is the only place people want to go to on Sunday (which is about to change.) We had the same waitress and I’m trying to understand how she has a job there still!!!!! I ordered a marg and a meal and decided to just get the marg cause I heard the tacos were way better in the back. She walked away, didn’t say anything and I never saw saw again. Don’t worry about it sweetheart - you’re just burning bridges because you do not know who people know. I have to avoid this place at all cost. No thanks.
Moved here from NYC and heard this is the place to be on Sundays. Went to the day party after 4pm. They charge a $20 (cash)/$23 (cash app/Apple Pay) cover charge. If you love section culture/cookouts/people just standing around smoking hookah/drinking where the vibe is kind of off if you’re not drunk - this place is for you. So boring after I went here twice. Food is mid. It gets super crowded. Tired of that bottle girl service dance. And last time I went before today, our server was RUDE! Yuck. The attire is all over the place. No hats inside but you got people wearing their Sunday’s best to females looking like they rolled out of bed. It is all over the place so it doesn’t even matter what you wear especially if you’re spending money. It gives tacky after a while. No seating outside of the sections and they will make any area into a section. The audacity to charge a group a section with two chairs alongside the wall. You cannot order food if you’re not attached to a section. You cannot sit if you’re not attached to a section but there’s a row full of empty chairs before you reach the patio area that you can’t sit in. The sections were sold out today and we were hungry and they said no food unless you’re in a section. My friends visited from NYC and were in awe when I couldn’t figure out where else to go on a Sunday. The best thing about C & K on a Sunday is the DJ’s. I’m here for them, everything else is a no for me dawg. These places get so boring, can’t wait to move back home where there’s competition and several places to go....
