Ive always wanted to try this place for the longest,especially after reading the reviews.I will make it short.Belen was not warm,nice or friendly toward me AT ALL.I could understand if I was one of those annoying customers who upset you or ask too many questions.I wasn't holding up the line or anything like that..There was no line.I was the only customer.I showed myself friendly,told her it was my first time there and how excited I was.She could care less,she just looked at me stupid,but she was very nice and welcoming to the Hispanic family who walked in as I was leaving.I don't mean to sound conceited but I am a very pretty black girl who drives a nice car.I feel in my heart that she was either jealous/intimidated by me or she's just downright racist.She was very dismissive,she wanted me out of there.I felt stupid for continuing to be nice to her after she kept acting cold .Belen, I hope you read this.I visited there today one hour before closing time and I ordered 2 macaroons,and rice pudding.You just lost a customer you ugly jealous hearted South American witch.You should be at least half nice to anyone who spend their hard earned money at your shop. The cake itself was beautiful and delicious, but the whole experience of ordering the cake is really what I love about Sweets by Belen. I was ordering the cake for my baby shower pretty last minute, and although I saw many beautiful cakes from her under the reviews, I didn't see one exactly how I wanted mine. I was nervous as to how I was gonna order the cake completely over the phone (I like the see something before I feel confident making a purchase), but the the lady I spoke to over the phone took the time to make me feel comfortable and explain everything little detail about the cake to me so I could envision exactly what I would be getting. When I picked up the cake a few days later I was absolutely thrilled; the cake was beautiful and exactly as I had wanted it! Belen made sure to tell me exactly how to store the cake, how long to keep it out for, etc.... Just some details that I really appreciate, and clearly show exceptional customer service. Interesting a woman claiming to be the infamous Belen(the galleta maker of these 100% percent Peruvian cookies on Hillcroft she also claimed to be 100% Peruvian) well I met her in 2009 or 2010 at an outdoor street market fair for international food vendors sponsored by Specs liquor. I actually met her when I first learned of this place at an outdoor fair newspapers article and went all exciteds to see all the local vendors put on VIP Boutique international treats. It was not just Peru who showcased treats at that fair. I think she offered tiny goodie bags of cookies that were free just as a sample. It's a tragedy That I have to remind people although appearingly free in candy dishes or sweets served on trays people are still expected to pay more for a regular sweet experience because consistently providing sweets all the time that costs money ...
