BRING YOUR OWN SILVERWARE!!! So I gotta burrito yesterday. It came out looking like a photo from a cookbook. Magnificent isn’t a strong enough word for how amazing it looked. The charred cheese on top made my mouth literally, not metaphorically, water.
With a broiled burrito, you obviously can’t eat it with your hands, which I’m usually quick to do with anything. I was told the only fork and knife were the plastic ones by the drinks. This is where my humiliation begins. I attempted to cut this absolutely unit of a burrito with the flimsiest plasticware on god’s cursed earth. It was completely ineffectual. I asked if maybe there was a real knife in the back I could borrow for the tenure of my meal. I was hit the a stone faced “no”. Without further elaboration, or help.
My humiliation continued as I helplessly struggled with the pathetic tools I was given. If I’d had my pocket knife, I’d have used it. So I asked the guy if they could cut it into several pieces for me, and yeah that was ok. I was brought back 3 enormous slabs of burrito. Slices so big they bent my fork when trying to eat.
At this point, please keep in mind that I don’t have a leisurely lunch break where I can spend elaborate time figuring out knife logistics. I tell him no, to please try again. Again it comes back in pretty big pieces. At this point, my fork can handle the structural load of the incredible combo of pork, rice, cheese, and amazing sauce.
The food was awesome, but my singular experience here was so tedious that I’m taking time out of today’s lunch break to complain about it. GET...
Read moreEasy parking in the strip mall. Adequate seating inside (booths and tables of 2-4). One lady at the counter that also doubled as a server - seemed understaffed. My order was not understood correctly - I ordered the ramen combo assuming it came with fries, but it did not. My friends' quesadilla combo and burger combos came with fries and they were able to ask for juices to substitute the fountain drink.
Service was unfortunately poor. The ice machine was broken and so the tea was lukewarm. There were no utensils, so when I got my birria Ramen I had to sit there for 5-10 minutes while the unfortunate sole cashier/waitress went looking for plastic utensils to refill the container. My dish was getting cold by the time I got utensils.
Birria Ramen: 1.5/5. Overly salty - and I eat many other ramen places with salty tonkatsu; trust me when I say this is SALTY. The ramen was no better than packets you get at the grocery store. Corn had the texture from a can. The birria meat is definitely a plus, but it was way too salty. It's like they mixed the ramen package with salty birria.
Birria Burger: 3.5/5. Actually tasted better dipped into the birria Ramen. Decently flavorful. Fries were very salty and not crispy.
Didn't get to try my friend's quesadilla but it seemed good, and he...
