New Review: Ahhh! What happened! This was like my favorite place just a few months ago.
Fried Cauliflower: This time it wasn't colorful, didn't have the flower garnishing and all together had a weird texture to at I didn't love. It's was okay. Last time I have this a 5/5 specific for this dish. This time I'd say... Meh. 3/5
Truffle fries: 2/5 rating... I've had really good truffle fries else where. These were regular fries with cheese. Truffle fries don't typically need cheese or anything else because Truffle fries should stand out on their own.
Lamb Meatball appetizer: WTH is going on here. It's just doesn't make sense. It's an appetizer with 3 meant balls. Grilled onions, tomato, spinach and pita bread. It tastes like I needs to be assembled like a burger but can't be. Over all it was very odd. 1/5 stars
Chipotle wings: 5/5 stars.. of all the things we tried this hit the mark and saved the truffle fries because we used the left over chipotle sauce to cover the fries.
Cacio E Pepe: lots of pasta wish mushrooms and an Alfredo type sauce. We added a shrimp protein and got about 4 shrimp. 3/5 rating as it was a very big portion of noodles and I ate the rest the next day.
Steak Fries: it's a steak.... It's a well seasoned steak but it's a steak.
Alcoholic drinks: Autumns special: very creamy, if you like baileys this reminds me of that. 3/5
Mint to be Julep: Very berry really didn't notice other flavors. If you like sweet fruit drinks this is for you. 3/5
B&B: Tastes refreshing kinda like a mojito 5/5.
Fall Vibes: The first round was great. It was like a cinnamon roll in a cup and it was 5/5 until we wanted a second round and then it was very strong like straight rum... Had to chug that down so it dropped to 3/5
Overall I was disappointed. Did you all get new chefs? I had high expectations and this place isn't cheap. We stay at the Westin sometimes and this restaurant is so convenient. But next time we might save some money and buy MODs pizza next door.
Original review: Everything we have tried has been unbelievably good. Fried cauliflower is fantastic, so was the speghetti squash. Very friendly, attentive server. Price is a bit prohibitive to come back frequently during our stay at The Westin, but for a nice dining experience and not needing to venture far from the room,...
Read moreLocated in the Westin Hotel Houston Medical Center, the Terrace 54 Bar & Table Restaurant provides a light fare, elegant dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. Restaurant staff are professional and friendly, offering excellent service, attentive to detail. Gabrielle, my server, provided first rate service and made dining at the Terrace a delightful experience. Unfortunately, the breakfast was less than desirable. I ordered coffee and a southern classic breakfast of eggs over easy, bacon, grits and wheat toast. The grits were fried and had the consistency of fish sticks, which was disappointing. The eggs were medium and not turned over. In addition, the eggs were sprinkled with basil, which wasn't what I ordered. I love basil, but not on my eggs. It changed the flavor of the eggs and ruined the simple taste of classic fried eggs. The bacon was crisp, but thin. A decent restaurant should have higher quality bacon product. Overall, Gabrielle made the dining experience pleasant; in fact, she was the bright spot of my entire dining experience. But the food was disappointing. To be sure, the Terrace is a high class restaurant, but they tried too hard on a simple breakfast order. It is hard to ruin a simple breakfast order, but they did. At $20 for two eggs, bacon, toast, grits and coffee, one expects much, much better. So, when ordering breakfast at the Terrace in the Westin Hotel Houston Medical Center, be specific and ask questions. Hopefully, this new enterprise will learn from its mistakes. If it weren't for Gabrielle, I would have given this review one star. The Terrace should congratulate her for...
Read moreThis was by far the worst dining experience we have had since being in Houston for the past week. The bartender, Tonisha, didn’t know what beers they had on tap. She gave us the wrong Restaurant Week menus so we ordered and then found out there was another’s lunch menu that would’ve worked better for us since the chicken sandwich we ordered was actually on that menu and came with a soup. We tried to readjust and she said she had got it fixed but the soup still came out after the entrees (which they had comped for us, luckily). The food was average at best. We ordered a medium burger that came out almost well done and had the skimpiest $20 chicken sandwich I have ever received. The only reason I didn’t send the food back was because I was absolutely starving. I am a General Manager at a brewery back home and to receive this kind of service at a restaurant like this was beyond disappointing and upsetting. We felt like we were a bother to Tonisha the entire time we were there and watching her behind the bar made me upset for the rest of the patrons that would have to come in and endure this type of service. When the check was dropped off after paying the pen was thrown at us as if she was thrilled we were leaving. With us staying at the hotel where this restaurant is located we were planning on coming back for dinner as well and now, we will never ever come back. Worst $80 lunch experience we’ve ever...
