Inside looks very clean and well lit. Nicely decorated and there's several space themed decorations on the wall. The bathrooms (2 private, any use) were also clean and pretty big. It’s spacious enough that you can bring your kid to go potty and you don’t feel trapped. There's a party room for a bigger party if needed. The doors can close to ensure privacy and even though we didn’t do it, it looked like it will be set up for karaoke!
Service was excellent! The staff were very attentive and came to check on us often. We had a very nice lady (who may have been the manager) check on us often. They've only been open for roughly a month now but the service is really good. They came often to refill our water bottles and give us more servings of the side dishes.
Food was a little slow to come in the beginning. However, once the food came, the dishes were hot and delicious. The side dishes were continuous and very tasty. Our favorite was the cucumber one, well flavored and a little sweeter compared to the traditional kimchi. The other side dishes were still great though.
The Korean fried chicken is ginormous but didn't lose out on flavor! Crunchy and pack full of flavor for sure. We ordered both the honey soy and sweet extra spicy. Both flavors were on point.
Other favorites included the bulgogi French fries and the fried calamari. The bulgogi French fries had lots of toppings and tasted great. The fried calamari breading was light and not too chewy. The sauce wasn't traditional thai chili sauce but a little thinner with something else in it. Still tasty though.
The Lychee soju was clean and zesty for sure. Favorite for the drinkers in the group but they also enjoyed the pineapple flavor. My sister said you could taste the alcohol more with the pineapple flavor.
Other dishes were ordered and tasted just as good. LA galbi and the grilled pork belly were popular. The Korean corn cheese was oozingly cheesy and we scraped the last bit off the grill. Other good dishes were the baked mussels and kimchi fried rice. Probably the least favorite was the sotteok-sotteok but that may due to personal preference.
Overall, great food and excellent service was found tonight. We will definitely come again and try the other dishes but we're too full to try. To make it even better, they're open pretty late so if you're having the munchies or wanting a late dinner to relax with friends, then try...
Read moreThis place just opened up recently and I believe it's the only Korean restaurant in the South Houston area that opens late at night. The interior is really nice, clean, and spacious. The tall lady worker was also really nice and attentive. The food took really long to come out though, and they came out one by one.
The food is okay, not too good but also not terrible. We got a variety of dishes to try: fried calamari, corn cheese, beef bulgogi, and kimchi tofu soup. We tried to order bibimbap but they didn't have it today.
I believe the owner is Viet so the food tasted like a Viet remake of Korean dishes?! If you were to compare it to authentic Korean restaurants in Bellaire (such as Tofu Village), it's definitely not as tasty and savory. I also noticed that this place is really expensive for such small portions of food.
The corn cheese was good but it tasted a little burnt and salty. The fried calamari was ok, it was very small and had too much batter. The beef bulgogi was way too sweet and had a lot of sauce, which is not common for Korean beef bulgogi since they're typically on the drier side. The kimchi tofu soup had a strong fish sauce smell, and the tofu itself was cold, not hot at all. Usually when you get tofu soup, everything in the soup is burning hot, including the tofu. I wish they can make the soup spicy since it was kind of bland. At the end of your meal they also give you free Melona ice cream so that was nice :)
Also the concepts of this place is really similar to Ohn Korean Eatery. Overall, it was nice to try out the place but I wouldn't come back since the food was not worth the price, but if you want good vibes then maybe. I heard the wings were good so maybe...
Read moreWe had a fantastic experience at Uju. The atmosphere and waitstaff set the tone and the food stood up to the hype.
Everyone gets small banchan to start, which were fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the Kimchi and fish cakes! Oh and the cucumbers and bean sprouts... I don't think I could pick a favorite! They even offered refills when we devoured the first round.
For our entrees we ordered and shared Rose Tteobokki, Fish Cake Soup, and Sweet & Spicy Wings. The Tteobokki came out first and quickly became the star of the show. The rice cakes were perfectly cooked and the sauce was so flavorful. Honestly one of the best restaurant dishes I've had in a very long time, and the serving size was very generous. We could have split just that and have had plenty of food. The Fish Cake Soup was a little underwhelming, but it might have just been in comparison to the Tteobokki. It still had great flavor and it was good to have something lighter to cleanse our palates. The wings came out last, so I was too full to appreciate them like they deserved, but I'm excited to eat them leftover for dinner tonight.
I will definitely be adding this to a regular rotation, and it looks like a karaoke room is going to be available in the back. Check it out, you...
