I brought my parents here to celebrate my father's and godfather's birthdays on the weekend of April 5th.
Food Steaks were made to order. I enjoyed the filet and Brussel sprouts. Family had among to order, ribeye, atlantic salmon and renegade sirloin and various sides. All food was satisfactory. Prices are fair.
Service Wait time was 35 min. For 5 people. I went at 5:30 on Friday. They don't take reservation, and the online waitlist is not real -it had no wait when I checked . And I was waiting with people of various party sizes, 2 ,3 , 4, 5 , 10 etc. The 3 and 2 party sizes will get seated first, respectively. Try and keep your party small. You will be able to track your waitlist with some text they give you and watch in "realtime" as people get seated. I don't know the accuracy of it - just an observation. Waitstaff was friendly and, for the most part, attentive.
Service/Other Usually, I don't have to mention much about cleanliness on restaurant reviews, but this is the first time I've had it happen. The steak knife in the rolled up silverware had a piece of food caked on the blade. This happened to my mother's, so I discreetly folded it over and asked the waitstaff to exchange - no big deal. Well, once he brought out another silverware, my father and godmother opened theirs, and we discovered my dad's had food on his knife, and my godmother had slight oil stains on hers. Now I understand washing in the back may get hectic and people may miss things, given the benefit of the doubt, however whoever folds up the silverware must look so at least 2 people looked at it prior to napkin wrapping. I would suggest adding a quality control step for this procedure as well as extra training. To clarify, another waitstaff did bring out 2 more new clean silverware that were clean as replacement. I did not take pictures, and I don't want this to hurt the restaurant review. I did not want to ruin the birthday celebration or make a big deal over small missteps that can easily be remedied. I just wanted to offer up a suggestion about how to quality control the eating utensils because despite everything else, seeing spent utensils will lead to question cleanliness of the kitchen and the integrity of the sterilization procedures.
Atmosphere The chairs are relatively comfortable, and tables are fairly spaced apart. Try and not get seated by the bathroom if you can, as there's not much space in between the area where the tables begin - really high traffic area as dinner goes on.
Overall, this place is a decent place to get dinner. Thank you for reading and...
Read moreNever happened to me anywhere before, but my latest experience here was just plain insulting and disgusting. It left a bad taste in my mouth and will likely results in us avoiding this restaurant in the future.
I'll start with the disgusting part. Giant roach just crawling along the wall next to where we were eating (see picture). Gross, but kind of expected in any Houston restaurant just due to our environment. I wouldn't even bother posting about it if it weren't for the following story.
So I went to eat with family, and my mom had asked for an additional corn on the cob on the side. We knew it was an additional charge and said it's fine. When the food came out, the corn on the cob was missing and so we mentioned it to the waitress. She said she'd check on it but did not come back for a long while. By the time she did, we were done eating, so we decided to just forget about the corn on the cob. (No worries, it happens! I never get mad when food is missing or else I would've pestered about it more than once, no biggie!) But when the bill came, the 6$ corn on the cob was still on bill so I mentioned it to the waiter. She took the receipt and a few moments later the manager came to the table. This is where the ridiculousness starts. The manager states that the corn was ordered along with a Mac n cheese, and he "KNOWS it was" because he took the order and "knows it was brought out." WTH!! I've NEVER lied about food at ANY restaurant and am always courteous with staff, so to be accused of lying instead of asimple correction was infuriating. I was respectful the entire time as I kept trying to explain that we knew it was "extra," but the issue was that it never came!! He would hardly let me talk and instead just kept interrupting me for 3 minutes repeating the same stuff to me about how he knows the food was ordered and delivered. Ultimately the manager did take the corn on the cob off the order (the Mac n cheese he also accused us of having even though it was not on the table OR on the bill so idk where he pulled that out of lol) but it was still an overall disgusting experience.
Still on the fence about calling the restaurant and scheduling a discussion with the manager and whoever else, but idk what that would do. One phone call won't change people's character. And I'm not a Karen, look at my reviews. I usually try not to mess with people's business as I understand everyone has bad days. This is my ONLY negative review in my years of using Google if that tells you anything about their...
Read moreREVISED 1/28/2023. I have changed my rating from 4 stars (pre-pandemic) to 1 star after last night's horrific experience. Longhorn used to be my favorite restaurant but no more. This restaurant is clearly suffering from a lack of trained hostess, bar, wait and management staff. Perhaps kitchen staff too but I could not see that directly. We called ahead and were told by TZ we would have about a 20 minute wait upon our arrival. I didn't think when he said "we got you" that we had been had. We were! We checked in with the hostess upon arrival and was told they would text us when the table is available. 40 minutes later we checked in and they could not find us on the list, stating they had paged us. We never received a text. I suspect their paging system failed because the rest of the night our dining experience was interrupted by the hostess screaming out party names and the size of the party. The bar failed also, as one member ordered a gin and tonic and they received a drink that was yellow. I ordered a glass of Woodbridge cabernet at $8.98 ( an entire bottle costs $9.98 at Walmart) and it arrived in a white wine glass - not a cab glass - and it was only a few swigs. I returned the drink and ordered an unsweetened iced tea instead. I eventually received a sweetened iced tea when our meal arrived. I ordered a T-bone steak medium rare at $28.49. About 2 minutes after receiving our salads, our meal arrived. The T-bone was thin and cooked well. It was juicy and had good flavor but chewy. There was little meat to eat after considering the huge piece of fat and the bone. I had perhaps 3 bites of tender loin. The floors were dangerously slippery and everyone ion our party was concerned about slipping and falling getting in and out of our table. Both the salads and our meal were delivered to us by runners and our waiter never followed-up to see if everything was alright and if we need anything. Waitstaff was not pre-bussing the tables either as we had to pile our salad bowls on top of empty bread plates on top of the bread board in the center of the table. I probably will not return to this eatery as there are many other restaurants that offer good steak in the...
