I haven't been to a Perkins in quite some time, as they have a history of being pretty awful. My mom though, convinced me to go as she wanted breakfast food (it was lunch time). I was surprised by the front entrance being brighter and more upkept since last being here. This location in particular being notoriously bad in past years. Anyway, we sit down and I notice they have a seasonal strawberry menu, a nice touch and honestly I probably should have ordered from it. I guess from here lets just do some pros and cons.
Pros -Service was good. Met quickly at the door and seated at a clean table. -Dinning area was well lit.
Thats it.
Cons -The aesthetic of the dinning room was more like a hospital cafeteria. -The menu was the same tired classic American comfort food. There was nothing modern about it. Not a bad thing itself if done well and fresh. -The food was not fresh, the fruit we received was mostly just hard honeydew melon and two grapes, one piece of cantaloupe. -I ordered the patty melt, it was literally just an unseasoned pre-made frozen patty with a slice of cheese. I had to open it and season it myself at the table. It was barely better than the Flanders brand burgers from the grocery store. -My mom mostly enjoyed her eggs benedict but you could see the sauce separating from the oil. Quite gross.
I have to give some credit, as it does appear they have updated the restaurant. Though, it does appear they know exactly the demo they favor here, I was most definitely the youngest customer there (I am 35). That being said, it doesn't appear they try very hard to bring a younger crowd in as they are happy to serve tastes that are very much stuck in 1990. There is nothing here for a younger crowd. Great place to stop after bingo...
Read moreThis restaurant is filthy. The outside looks like it is falling apart. Inside the baseboards look like they haven’t been cleaned since they opened the place. They had to close the back tables as rain was leaking through the roof and from the looks it has happened more then once. Spider web in the window where my daughter was sitting with the spider in it. I worked at Perkins years ago and part of your side work was to clean your section at the end of your shift. This includes washing your tables, boothes, window sills and sweeping the floors among refilling everything on the tables. If where you sit and eat is this filthy I can’t imagine how bad the kitchen is. Never again. I don’t know about the rest rooms because I didn’t want to even look at them. Shame on the company for letting their restaurants go down hill like this. Next time I’m in town I will definitely go back to Bob Evens, food is good and...
Read moreWe took our almost seven-year-old granddaughter here wearing a birthday hat from school yesterday. We had a pleasant conversation with the asst manager who asked her what’s her favorite food here.My husband told him she loves whipped cream and actually would prefer just to eat the whipped cream plain! He left and soon returned with two waitresses ( the asst manager wearing a cowbow hat) carrying a bowl of whipped cream on a-tray with her cookie! They stuck a candle in the whipped cream, lighted it and began clapping and singing a happy birthday song! Our granddaughter was delighted and couldn’t believe the special treatment she was getting. He also brought her an application and told her if she came back in nine years, he would give her a job 😊! After they left, our granddaughter said, “That’s the best pre-birthday I’ve ever had!” They really made her day! Thank you Andrew, Cai, and the...
