Azul Tequila Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Hudson

I must say I had high hopes for this restaurant as we drove over an hour to get to it. Unfortunately, the service weighs this place down way to much to save it from a good review. The waiter came over and asked if we wanted drinks, my father in law was trying to ask a question but had some chips caught in his throat so I asked the waiter to lets get some water over here first. Ok..so within a few minutes, we had water and then he walked off. Well, he didnt come back for a good 10+ minutes until I flagged him to come back over. We placed our drink order and food order at the same time. Drinks came out by someone else, which was fine, and then we waiting for a good 30+ minutes until anything else came out, about 75% of the order came out, and nothing else. I had to waive down another waiter to get our waiter, in which someone else ended up coming over. I asked where our waiter was and he told me he had left. So just so you know, we never did see our waiter again. This new waiter got us the rest of our order, although food that came out was cold and wrong in some of them. My fajita tasted fine but others in the group said no good on the food, and cold.

Maybe this was an off day, I just dont know, but I have never seen a waiter leave and never come back to our table without telling anyone to cover our table. The place was virtually empty when we ordered except for a large group behind our table, but there was a different waiter handling that table so that is no excuse. So big fail, and on top of that never got any apology at a minimum. I wasn't looking for free food, but a simple "we are so sorry for what...

First and foremost, the food here is great and the margaritas are excellent. There were two oddities that I thought detracted from our experience, hence the removal of 1 star.

There are signs posted all over stating the bar is not open seating. My friend and I were actually sat at the bar. We didn't mind, but we also weren't asked. I view sitting at the bar versus the dining room as somewhat different experiences, so it would have been nice to have been offered the choice. I think this is why most restaurants offer the bar as open seating. Also, despite the several handwritten signs, there was still a couple that tried to sit next to us assuming it was open seating. It was awkward for everyone when they got kicked out. That couple left and spent $0.

You are not allowed to order a drink from the bar while you are waiting for a table. This I couldn't wrap my head around. I get that moving the ticket might be an issue, but if that's too difficult for the staff just make me close out my bar tab right away. We waited for about 40 minutes after being told 20. It would have been a much better wait sipping on a delicious margarita. I think every other Mexican restaurant I've been to with a wait I've had a margaritas in the lobby, to the point where I look forward to the wait for a table because then I can chat and sip without feeling rushed. Imagine my surprise getting told no when trying to order at the bar. Weird. I think the front of house manager should rethink this policy.

My fiance and I have been going here since we moved to the River Falls area. We love it here and is probably our favorite restaurant in the area. We love the 2-4-1 margarita deals and the food is always delicious. Love the chips and salsa too! The smoked chipotle sauce bottle that comes in the tray is amazing. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because tonight I had my first negative encounter with the hostess (white, middle-aged woman with shorter blonde hair) which made me sad because I really like the place. She was super rude when asked if we'd like to be seated. I stated we were meeting some friends out on the patio and she scoffed and rolled her eyes! Not sure what the problem was...service was then pretty poor. Waiter didn't come back to clear table we were at, no offering for free chips and salsa. I honestly felt ignored. Again, very sad because we love the place and have had nothing but positive experiences prior to tonight. When I went up front to pay (waiter never gave us our check), I tried to make light conversation with the hostess (same blonde woman) and again, was met with an unfriendly attitude. Not cool if you're trying to run a business, especially when you're dealing with returning customers!! We've loved all workers here in...
