Jackpot! 13 years... 13 years we waited for something in Hudson. Here' what I can speak to after our first visit for takeout on their 5th day open. We ordered Chicken lettuce wrap (Larb salad), pad thai (always a good indicator), Massaman curry, and spring rolls. The food was easily ordered via their website, it gave us the pickup time which was about 45 minutes on a Friday with a grip of citizens queued-up. The timing was perfect and totally expected, you'd wait just as long for mediocre pad thai at Sawatdee in the cities. Portions were good, the pad thai is really two meals, the curry could have been larger and/or the price could be a dollar lower across the board, that being said the margins are so small in that business, I totally get it. Plus, you're in Hudson Wisconsin, people can afford it.
The food was amazing, pad thai was flavorful, not too oily, but also not dry and clumpy like a bad pad thai can be. There was lemon as a citrus garnish, I'd prefer lime, but meh. The curry was good! as I said could gave been a bit larger. The chicken prep in the curry is how I like it for the application, thin slices of chicken so they're almost poached in the curry, and was tender not chewy. The chicken lettuce wrap (I know it as larb or laab, the unofficial dish of Laos) was poifect! salty, spicy, citrusy, and just perfect, wouldn't change anything about it. If you've never had laab and you like salty/spicy you.missing.out. The spring rolls were fresh, not starchy, nice pieces of shrimp. I thought the dipping sauce was too sweet, but my wife liked the level, I like a more fishy condiment.
Overall a 5/5, I cried when I read we were finally going to have local access to a Thai spot. For 13 years we've taken weekly trips into the cities for our Thai fixes, at least we'll have this. I set the bar low going in, but happy to report the food is great! Also, disregard the Orange Chicken, they have to, it's Hudson. I'm just happy to support a family business and eat good food while doing it! Owners, you're doing a great...
Read moreOh man, I am so grateful this restaurant came to our area. When you walk in you smell the wonderful aroma of Asian cuisine the spices, herbs and vegetables being sautéed. You are greeted promptly with a warm, welcoming, gentle smile and then seated. Your drink order is taken and served. Now, before Miko's came I had to travel an hour and a half to get good "real" spring rolls from a little Hmong store. Now, 20mins Boom baby, get my spring roll fix which by the way I highly recommend trying if you have not. I promise you will not regret it. There are so many different things to choose from on their vast menu. Folks the Pho (pronounced F-a) is so good. If you leave this wonderful restaurant hungry, that's on you my friend because their portions are enormous. Not even close to kidding. It's like going to grandma's house, you will not leave hungry. I will eventually try everything on the menu, well, maybe not the super spicy curry stuff. Since recovering from covid my tongue can't handle spicy foods any longer. : -( Now on to dessert. My daughter and I shared the sweet mango rice, O.M.G. think rice pudding only a million times better. A warm bed of sticky white rice covered in sweet coconut milk and beautiful soft, fresh mangoes slices top this mountain of love. It was so good, we were both so full but we kept eating it till it was gone and it wasn't a small amount either. It is definitely a shareable dish I wouldn't recommend eating by yourself. Lord help you if you do. LOL. Definitely a repeat customer, I'm sure they will get the all the business they need to...
Read moreIf you are looking for real Thai Food, this is not the place. The Pad Se Ew was Ew, saturated with sweet soy sauce. Noodles are typically supposed to be fried with a hard texture but this was literally soft with eggs all saturated into the noodles. I told the waitress to tell the Chef that they need to not mix or saturate the eggs. The waitress said that’s how they cook it. That means the chef needs to go. I’ve eaten enough Thai food and THIS dish is a No no.
I’ve been here 3 times giving them benefit of the doubt. It has not changed. Anything stir fried is saturated with sauce. The curry soup are the only perfect thing on their menu. Fried food is also good. Anything else is soggy. PHO broth had dried shredded chicken in the combination, but shrimp was good. I’ve tasted better broth, this place is giving this town all the artificial package taste. Relishes are limited to two leave basil, and one strand cilantro, one bowl has no cilantro and one piece of jalapeño.
The fried rice was actually taste good, but with hard rice. I’m Asian and I know RICE. Did they run out of rice? I’ve traveled to Thailand and fan of Thai food. This was a disappointment. I’ve tasted Thai food all my life. I typically complain to the waitress on all visits and on my first visit as well. NOTHING has changed.
Anything stir fried are saturated with liquid tossed on meat it’s not really added in at the right time. Chef needs to pay attention. Will not eat here again. Over priced for eating saturated food and short cuts in Thai food is cheating the...
