Barker's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Hudson

Our 11 year old actually asked to go here, hadn't been here in over a year or so? But she wanted to go to the place where we could get popcorn...hard to say no to that. Got there a little after 5 on a Saturday, was worried about seating but got right in. Business ramped up shortly after though. Had cheese curds for an app that were good, and dinners were good all around.

Had the Philly cheesesteak, pastrami reuben, and our 11 year old had the fish and chips. The joys of adding additional adult meals to the bill instead of kid meals...but the fish was really tasty...I planned to finish it for her but felt bad eating her lunch for the next day, so I did not. 9 and 6 year old stuck to kids meals, chicken tenders and hot dog.

Biggest issue was the beer. I like to try new beers, I am not really a big beer drinker, don't have much for favorites, but I'll try new ones whenever I can. Our teenage waiter was not able to tell me what some of the more unique ones were like, but he tried pretty hard to get feedback from others on what they were...and he kept coming back with more of "they haven't tried it either"! I know beer usually just sells itself, but come on, I couldn't try everything and we were wasting valuable consumption time trying to determine which was sour vs fruity vs chocolatey notes! Let's get some tast testing going so we can describe some flavor profiles! Except for the teenager, best to draw a line somewhere. Other than that, it was a great dinner, and I managed to get 2 beers in but...

So I went to this place. Got seated as friend and i walked in the bar. The place was not even half filled. We didn't get a waitress, for a little over 10 minutes after we got there. Being very thirsty this was very aggravating. It took at least 15 minutes to get what we wanted to drink because there was no offer of even water. Almost an hour later and this place being almost empty we got our burger and chicken sandwich each with fries. She brought out 2 little saucers of ketchup. My friend asked for more and she came back with 2 more little ones. When we got our food it was warm. The very few fries we paid extra for were soggy. We ran out of ketchup and by then the food was cold and friend didn't even want to eat the chicken. This was a terrible experience. Terrible service. Smallest portion of fries I've ever seen that were soggy. And all this bad service for a place that wasn't close to being even...

Let me start by saying that I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed, the waitress have always been helpful and nice, the food is always tasted great and is hot. But tonight's dinner was super disappointing. We came in as a bigger party with reservations, so I get as a server a party can be annoying but they did get a 24 hour notice. The server was super nice and seemed to know what she was doing but people that showed up after us and got their order taken after us got their food, ate, paid and left before we got ours. We say for an hour before we got our dishes and most was grilled chicken and salads and a burger it's not like it was a stake it something super complicated. Aaaaand the burger was WAY undercooked, the sandwiches aaaaand chicken were slightly warm, and fries were cold.
