Aloha Grill — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

I went here twice a year ago and this year. Last year, we went in the morning. My boyfriend and I are from Las Vegas and we just arrived and wanted to go some where to eat. There was a bartender and two servers. We get in and there's a sign that states wait to be seated so we both stood there waiting for someone for 20 minutes to seat us. The bartender kept looking at us and didn't say word and the two servers kept walking pass us. The COOK was the one who told one of the servers that we were standing there waiting to be seated. Finally she said, "Go have a seat anywhere." The busboy was the one who gave us the menus and glasses of water. Another 20 mins the waitress took our order. Food came and it was great. But when I was trying to get her attention, she keeps walking by. Finally we asked for the check and took out my card. When she asked for ID and saw that we were from Las Vegas, she started to chit chat, ask us if we needed anything else, and basically 360'd her service. Better tip? Right, no way.

This year, we decided to give this place another chance since I loved their calamari sandwich. This time we sat on the bar to avoid that same waitress we had last year (yes, she was working). Bar tender was ignoring a customer trying to pay and we got the same poor service as we had last year! This time was worse because the waitress was actually eating while serving and when a customer asked for jack n coke, she asked the bartender what was their lowshelf whiskey and served that instead! Im pretty sure she doesn't have a bar tending license and shouldn't even make drinks. If I ask for Jack n coke, I expect it to be made with Jack. If they let go of their food quality, this place would have nothing...

Pretty good food, portions were for ants though. View and ambiance was great, and most of the 3 stars are for that. -2 stars because we got the tiniest scoop of rice and macaroni salad for our teriyaki chicken plate. What does rice cost? What does macaroni cost? It’s not like we got grilled organic asparagus, soup, avocado, or something fancy. We’re talking two of the cheapest priced food items in existence, and they gave the equivalent of a very small ice cream scoop size? I’ve never seen a smaller portion personally that wasn’t a garnish. It would cost owner no more than ~0.25c to give a double scoop, and the review would be a 4 easily. Another path is if the plate was $10 vs $15. Pick a path of cheap and small, or expensive and large.. what’s currently being offered won’t work long term and I’ll never be back unless they pick one of the above paths.
