The people leaving 5 stars obviously have not gone to Morena's Mexican cuisine on Edinger and Gothard and done a Real comparison of food. When you see a review that mentions "Salsa" please see the picture of the Salsa and see with your eyes what "Tomato Sausa Salsa IS" Look I get it, I understand that these Fanboys are Locals and they want to defend their spot. Oh and when you say "Kids Love The Food Here" well yeah I get that too. My Son will eat anything and say it's great, hell it's Food. From me, my experience was just very unappetizing. To start they serve you Rock hard very thick tortilla chips with a true Water Tomato Sauce Salsa. Please see picture of Salsa on chip. Honestly this is the worst Salsa & Chips I've ever. I ordered Two Carnitas Tacos. OMG they brought me to soft tortillas filled with Super Dry Pork Chunks. No lettuce, No tomatoes just Dry Pork. I called the waiter. I told him I had no idea you serve those like that. I had assumed that you would ask the customer what they want hard or soft shell. No sir this is our Taco if you want a hardshell Taco you gotta ask. So back they went. Then they serve me the tacos I ordered. The waiter popped back up in like 5 Minutes, I'm sorry we gave you someone else's plate. Another First for me the guy reached over and took the plate ."I swear" then 5 Minutes later he came back with another plate. Very strange to say the least. Ok the beans were very Salty not good at all. My taco is coming apart in Giant tortilla bites because the shells are so thick. See picture I'm sorry I'm done here I'm leaving, everything they serve needs to be Re-Thought Out. I'm sorry I didn't go to my favorite spot on Edinger Ave near Gothard called Morena's Mexican cuisine. I just threw away $25. I'm actually livid and mad at myself for not driving 15 minutes away. I'll never be back. That's 💯
Look I'm not a bad guy or mean. I'm honest and I care but the owners of this place need to back to Square One and rethink what they're serving people. I left my plat just as you see it. I will give credit where credit is due the ice...
Read moreGrew up in HB. Began going when doors opened. Always great food and service. If something doesn't seem to your liking (such as the 10-15% meater, here), just say something. They ALWAYS make it right with no qualms. If you're visiting, make sure you, at the very least, split a Mexican Pizza / shredded beef with someone along with your entré. You will try the rest of your life to look me up to thank me. You have never had one like this. After a day of surfin' we'd cruize in here for a couple Cadillac Maggie's, sit down to HOT (YES, HOT) chips. Now days, if you go into an "authentic place", the chips are cold and are not salted. Tell me....what's the point? The quality is STILL present in "to go" food. You take a meal home or your hotel, that bad boy is gonna be smokin' hot and won't be missin' a thing but your face in the cheese. Ok...if you get "to-go", DO NOT drink and drive but treat yourself to relaxation. After you order, go straight to the liquor store and get your cerveza and tequila so you can sit by the pool or watch t.v. to enjoy. Pick your scrumptious morsels up and go to your lair. Don't answer the phone. You want INTO this stuff RIGHT NOW and by gettin' your drinks earlier, you don't need to worry about the H.B. Police (I know a bunch) nor the C.H.P. see....the folks are GREAT but will NOT tolerate you DWI. Besides; you need to enjoy this handsome repast. Just Sayin'. Happy feasting and tell the servers "Roger, from Lockheed Experimental, sent me". Ya might get a bit of a discount. Chow down...
Read moreBest service! It has been hard for me to find a restaurant with good costumer service but this place was the best. They never let us see the nacho basket empty. The food came out really fast, staff super friendly. Every time my husband’s tea was empty they would refill it asap. The ambiance was really good too! The restaurant is way bigger that I anticipated, the deco is pretty enjoyable and cozy. The prices are very reasonable, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a perfect place for a chill dinner with family or a hangout with your friends to have a couple drinks. Tbh, the food wasn’t as good as I expected but it wasn’t terrible either. I think everything else makes up for it. The salsa was more like tomato sauce instead of diced tomatoes, and the carne asada was a little overcooked. But the nachos, rice, guacamole and the rest of stuff tasted fine. So, if your main interest is having the best Mexican food, you may or may not like this spot. If you want great costumer service with good ambiance and ok food this is your place. I will for sure come back. I haven’t seen costumer service like this since I moved to California and...
