My favorite type of restaurant…A hole in the wall with great food and excellent service! I had my usual ground beef taco and cheese enchilada with red sauce combo, served with rice and refried beans. The cheese enchilada was exceptionally yummy and the beef taco was good. I think I expected the meat to taste like Ortega taco mix that you get in the grocery store, so I don't know if a girl from Florida should be judging true Mexican tacos. I'm just used to the grocery store and Taco Bell. But the taco was very good! Nothing was spicy at all, thank goodness! I asked first this time, and they assured me nothing was spicy and they told me the truth. The refried beans and rice were excellent. I don't usually care for refried beans and rice, but these were something to brag about. The chips and salsa was the main event, however! The chips were about the size of my palm, and they were delicious! The salsa was very good, too! The guacamole was ok and expensive. I've had better guacamole, but it was still good. The service was another highlight! think it was the owner that kept coming outside and checking on me to make sure everything was OK, speaking to me in simple Spanish, which made it fun! They have a few tables inside and a few tables outside. It was a beautiful August day in Huntington Beach with a temperature of 75° and with cool breeze, so I sat outside and it was wonderful! I could have never done that in Florida this time of year. 🥵🥵🥵

We love finding local places. This is a local place and the food was excellent! We loved sitting outside on a quieter street, under umbrellas. Not fancy, just perfect! We had a chili relleno burrito, a shredded beef taco, and an a'la carte chili relleno. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked great. Our order was delicious and good sized. The chips were included and freshly fried whole corn tortillas. A tasty change up from normal chips. The salsa was very good too. We'll be back next time we're in Huntington Beach.

I ordered the Supreme Burrito, it was generously sized and smothered in a delicious sauce. The combination of rice, beans, lettuce, and my choice of protein was a flavor explosion. To top it off, they included a serving of large tortilla chips, which were perfect for dipping. The prices were quite reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality and quantity of food we received. The friendly service was the cherry on top of our dining experience. I can't wait to return for another beachside meal!

I been a customer of Pete’s Mexican food for 30 years. I love to snack on their chips and salsa. Yesterday I went in to buy a side of chips and salsa, a 16 ounce of salsa a side of 2 ounces of sour cream and two pellegrino (sparkling water). The total came out to over $28. I walked away feeling appalled that water, chips, salsa and sour cream costs $28 with not actual meal. So, I asked the lady to break it down for me. The water is $3.90 a bottle, chips and 2 ounce salsa $5 with some change, 16 ounce salsa $7 with some change and a 2 ounces of sour cream $4.20. I get it, inflation. But, oh my goodness! Why is chips, salsa, sour cream and water almost $30!? That’s sad. To top it off. The salsa was old and acidic. When I called in, the lady was kind enough to say I can go back for another 16 ounce salsa...

Terrible. Could not express enough. I asked the woman working at the front, "What is in the deluxe burrito?" She continued to tell me the type of meat they had available. I repeated the question 4 times several different ways, same answer. Ended up ordering a carne asada burrito, no sour cream please. The gentleman in the back whipped it up. Meat is tasty, only thing there was half a pound of sour cream on the burrito. I go to the counter and ask for a replacement, where the gentleman says which one did i get. I said carne asade. He says that the carne asada burrito doesnt come with sour cream....😔 You let me down Pete's, in every way service could have. Wont be trying again, please avoid the tourist trap...
