Authentic and delicious, Street Thai Cafe is between Bella Terra and Goldenwest College on Gothard, right next to the (also amazing) Fuji Burger. Best Thai food in the O.C. and that's saying a lot, considering there are several other great choices, one in Garden Grove and another in Westminster. But neither of them are as good as this new place!
This is exactly what you would expect if you went to Thailand, right down to the bosa nova music. Food is fresh, spicy, and delicious -- and you have everything you need to make it even spicier on the table, so if it's not spicy enough, kick it up with a couple extra spoonfuls.
We ordered the papaya salad (som tum), which should be eaten with the sticky rice (kow neuw), the BBQ chicken (kai yang), and a less traditional pinapple fried rice (khao pad sapparot). Pineapple fried rice has chicken, shrimp, cashews, and pineapple. I like it because of the variety. A bit of a showboat, as well, served in half a pineapple husk.
We plan on coming back many, many more times to try their noodles, curries, and more! Food is amazing, we cannot stop talking and...
Read moreTonight was my first and last time here. I had this place on my list for a long time and had Hope's for it. First off the food was really tasty, but that was about all that was good. Tonight there was one person working the front during dinner time and she was more preoccupied with to go orders and grubhub orders than they people in the dining room. She was really inattentive I had one cup of water the whole time my son and I were having dinner and neither one of our drinks were refilled. When I had a hard time making up my mind on a meal choice she didn't have anything to offer other than seeming annoyed. I ordered one beef noodle soup a plate of stir fried veggies a side of rice and one piece of roti. All that and it was over $30. The roti was store bought and tiny. The rice was about a cup or less and cost another 3 dollars. Just white rice. While my son and I were having dinner there were a few people waiting for their food obviously not too happy either. Good thing there are many other great choices to get...
Read moreStopped here for some lunch. Walked in and placed an order. I ordered the drunken noodles with chicken. I paid with a large bill, and the lady went to the back to get change, I guess. She took a few minutes, so I decided to sit inside while I waited for my change and food. As soon as I was getting ready to sit, keep in mind there are no customers eating or waiting. She comes out and asks if I can wait outside. I said oh okay. She hands me my change, and I have to wait outside. Luckily, they had a couple of chairs outside. Made me feel weird. My money is good but I can't sit inside in an empty restaurant. I must say the food was great. It was nice and hot and just the right amount of spice. The Thai tea was on the small side but decent flavor. I hope they are nicer to other customers. Also, keep in mind that prices have gone up than what this menu...
