Yamas Teriyaki — Restaurant in Huntington Beach

I have gone twice to this spot now. My initial experience was not so great. It was about 3-4 weeks ago when a lot of people were staying home. They even had a sign to please be patient because they were understaffed. Which is totally understandable. Though I did not like how the daughter did the owner was being kinda rude. Even other customers were telling the cook how she was being rude and unpleasant. That was true though because my second time going she was there but she was a whole different person. She was super friendly and nice and laughing with her staff. Her mom was also there. I only known it’s the daughter and mom because I came here based on an Insta review. The food however was great. And at the end of the day I go to eat and not to be friends I guess. But being nice to your customers should be important to you especially if it’s your families restaurant. I do plan on going back. I came here once for lunch and it was ok. I thought I would give this place another try, so I purchased dinner here for my family. We purchased 2 large chicken bowls, a small chicken bowl, 2 crunch rolls, and one large beef bowl. Everything was about $73. Let me tell you, what a waste of money! The chicken was absolutely flavorless and extremely dry. The beef had flavor, but it was also extremely dry. The crunch rolls were the worst I have ever tasted in my life. The "crunchy" toppings on the roll were drenched with sauce, it was a layer of sogginess before you get to the roll. Parts of the roll had cucumber, some didn't, some had shrimp, some didn't. They should probably stop selling that here. It was not edible and the shrimp in the roll was cold! 😬 To top it all off, we waited over 25 min at the place for this order. I am so fortunate to have actually shown up when yamas was still open on a Saturday usually I am busy and when I get a chance I roll around to the Target shopping center and catch yamas when it's closed. This time I caught them and they were open and I never had any idea how truly incredibly delicious the food actually is. I am so surprised and happy that it is the mouth watering chicken beef teriyaki and the freshest vegetables and the freshest rice available in all of Huntington Beach or the surrounding OC area that I have encountered in 5 years.
