Captain D’s has unfortunately fallen far from what it once was. I’m not sure if it’s because my tastes have developed over the years, or if the restaurant has genuinely reduced its quality standards, but the difference is clear. This used to be the place for a quick, reliable fried fish meal—a solid alternative to cooking at home or going to a sit-down restaurant. Now, however, I honestly couldn’t recommend Captain D’s to anyone based on my recent experience.
We decided to place a to-go order, thinking it would be a convenient and familiar option. While we waited for the food, I went inside to use the restroom, and that’s when I realized something had gone seriously downhill. The restaurant’s cleanliness was appalling. Trash bins were overflowing, and the floors and counters looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in some time. Every corner seemed neglected, with visible dirt and clutter. It was a sad sight for a place that once had a dependable reputation, and it set an uncomfortable tone for the meal.
Despite the unpleasant surroundings, we were hoping the food itself would make up for it. When we received our order, the food was hot, but somehow it still tasted stale and off. Both of us regretted our decision almost immediately after eating—it left our stomachs unsettled, making us wish we’d chosen any other option. For my meal, I ordered the fried fish and chicken combo with sides of macaroni and cheese and fries. Unfortunately, every single item was disappointing. The fish and chicken lacked flavor and freshness, the macaroni and cheese was bland and mushy, and even the fries felt like an afterthought. The most impressive part of the meal was the packaging, and that’s saying something.
Captain D’s used to be a reliable go-to for fast, tasty fried fish, but at this point, it’s hard to recognize what it once was. I wouldn’t consider returning unless they underwent a complete 180 in terms of both restaurant cleanliness and food quality. Their standards have dropped significantly, and it’s clear that either management has changed or the chain as a whole has chosen to cut corners. For now, I absolutely would not recommend this location—or even Captain D’s in general—to anyone looking for a decent meal. Until they make serious changes, this is not the place to satisfy a craving for fried...
Read moreI placed a online order and online was quoted food would be done by 8:30pm I arrived to the location at 8:45pm to pick up the order and when I went to the speaker there was 1 click sound over intercom and i sat there for a another 4/5 min and no one came on the speaker ,I pulled up the window and before I could get hi or anything out I was greeted by the drive thru girl(red and black braids, white airpod in her ear ), she says, "I put you on hold what do you want" i was so taken back by her smart remarks and unprofessionalism. I matched her energy and said I don't know who done it, but it wasn't me. She then slams the window and begins talking trash to the employees in the back where the warmer window is located. Once I see another employee pass by I grabbed his attention (black guy ,black & Grey afro, purple manager shirt) and let him know the situation I was then told that sometime to "just look over ppl" my rebuttal was I worked hard for me income. Like most people respect is a two-way street, especially when people like myself, our transactions are how these companies are able to have employees. Due to her demeanor, i took pictures and recorded videos of this situation. If not handled accordingly tomorrow, I will be taking it a step further. The unprofessionalism, rude ,snarky remarks could have subsided. I don't know what is going on in her personal life, but back in my day, we were told that once you clock in, you leave all the personal business at the door. Now that was 1 part of the problem, the 2nd issue is the food I waited over 35 MINUTES for a online order , keep in mind the order was for 1 3 piece plate with a baked potato (didn't have it) and broccoli I literally got 5 small cold pieces as a "portion". I received fries as a substitute, and they were not freshly hot, but they were at least warm. I'm not sure if i will ever order food from here again and that may not mean anything to them but if you have someone like her "working" for you , the business will be affected(more than it already is). Customer service sure isn't anything like...
Read moreSo today I ordered through Grub hub, a family meal and an additional chicken tenders order. I only received the chicken tenders order and green beans. I called Captain D's and spoke to a girl who advised that I can come up there and they would remake the order. I thanked her because I paid $73 for this order....my husband gets there and the manager say sorry you have to contact Grub hub and would not give anything for her employee advising me to drive up there....I advised her that not only did Grub hub make an error now her employee made an error and we are out of money and still don't have the food. She said sorry she told the employer she was wrong and as a manager she can't do anything...Well I have been a manager and you lose more when you do this..because you are a manager you can see the mistake that was made and you should make it right because that's what a customer remembers..now what I remember is a manager not making it right after I literally told her i paid 73 and have kids here not only am I out the money, she seemed to have an "well its not my fault attitude" instead of trying to fix the problem, ok sis😉. I still don't have the food and now my husband had to go somewhere else. Grub south only refunded $36 of the $73...so I paid $37 for 10 chicken fingers and a side of green beans. So not only am I never using grub hub but I will not go to Captain D's(which I rarely use anyway) but today they could have made a great impression to win over a customer and her soccer moms, baseball moms, basketball moms, and dance moms friends.and have awesome customer service, but clearly she has the manager hrly wages attitude instead of the owner attitude, clearly she is happy were she is at.(its not where you are at its where you are trying to get to) My kids had 2 soccer games tonight and cooking was not on the menu. I was very disappointed with...
