I actually visited Dallas Mill Deli for the first time a couple weeks ago, but I've been super busy and was pretty underwhelmed with my visit, so my review is quite delayed.
Dallas Mill Deli is a popular Huntsville lunch spot. They do sandwiches, soups, chicken salad, etc. It's a cute little space on the inside. Not a ton of seating, but fun decorations. The ordering situation is confusing. When you walk in through the front door, you see the register, but they take your order at the counter, which is several steps away on your left.
There are two really good things about Dallas Mill: the service and the sweet tea! The ladies working there were super helpful, friendly, and nice. The tea wasn't done brewing when I placed my order, but it was finished by the time I sat down, and it was delicious.
Unfortunately, the food quality/taste/portion size didn't wow me at all, especially considering the price. I opted for a half sandwich and the soup of the day, which came with cornbread or crackers. I picked cornbread. I also got a piece of strawberry pretzel salad, their most well-known specialty offering. All this was almost 15 dollars for lunch, which I feel is high, especially when you consider the portion sizes, which I felt were honestly abysmal, except for the dessert.
My half grilled cheese was, optimistically, maybe a third of a grilled cheese. The chicken tortilla soup was much more akin to a very thin vegetable soup with a few tiny cubes of chicken inside. No tortillas to speak of. The sandwich and soup didn't exactly taste terrible (though neither was especially good); they were just much too small/not really what I thought was advertised. The cornbread was dry, crumbly, and unpleasant. And the strawberry pretzel salad was a massive disappointment -- the crushed pretzel bottom was tasty, but the strawberry topping had a gross aftertaste.
I was super disappointed in this...
Read moreIf you love homemade goodness, you'll go here. Beautiful location with a lot of history. Very quaint and relaxing shop much like you'd expect in France. With a huge variety of sandwiches and a desert, you have to try. I'll start with the strawberry pretzel pie. What is that, you ask? Well, you'll have to go find out. You'll love it! I also had a club. The meat is so fresh and crispy vegetables it's like they came from a local farmers market. Maybe they did, I don't know. But even the sandwiches were fantastic. The staff are like your friends with a big warm greeting. Very helpful in deciding what to order when there are so many wonderful choices. The location is nice enough for a quiet first date, a family dinner, a business lunch... etc. It has that nice calming feel just being there. Like the craziness of the world just went on hold. Cool spot. I like it. Wonderful ladies just add to it's wonderfullness. Yup, I made that word up for a place like no other. Locally owned, give them some support. You can...
Read moreQuick: Clean restaurant, nice staff, good food, average prices Review: This is located right off 565 next to the Habitat Store and is a nice, quaint little place. The inside is very "deli" and the staff inside was very nice and answered all our questions. The food was delicious but was averaged/higher price. I can understand this though as its a small run business and the food is fresh. I had the BLT on a Pretzel bun and it was very tasty. They do have drink control with Fresh Iced tea which is a big plus in my book (as most people most likely). Asks: I did want to try the Strawberry Pretzel dessert but thought it was a little pricey for the size that you get. It was one small square located in a larger plastic. I feel that the price point for this should have been around $2.00 for what you get. Loved this...
