Looking for the perfect place to grab a little breakfast? Canadian Bakin’ does not lack in quality. You can expect the best ingredients, the freshest produce, and the most high-quality carbs in Huntsville right here in their little shop. First, the Coffee The carbs and bread are the top selling point here, of course, but do not underestimate the shop’s craft coffee selection. The shop offers a variety of hot and cold coffee and tea options, with some exciting latte flavor options to choose from. I opted for their miel flavor addition, which comes topped with a generous dose of cinnamon sprinkled on top. This was creamy, sweet, and strong, which is exactly how I like my coffee. The honey sweetening really brings the flavors together without being overly sweet. The Down Payment As a millennial, I was legally obligated to try their avocado toast, and it absolutely does not disappoint (at least, for my fellow avocado lovers. My companions aren’t so refined and cultured). This is a simple meal, a slice of sourdough with avocado, tomato, pickled onion, and everything seasoning. But, sometimes, simple is best, in my book—each ingredient gets to shine on this one, from the thick, solid bread to the softened, almost tangy onions. Q-Becco This pick is one of the shop’s top choices, and after a few bites, I get it. If you’re a fan of a classic bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, this is absolutely the one for you. Besides the bacon and eggs, this is brought together with a sharp cheddar cheese and caramelized onion. Having tasted the options, the brioche bun is phenomenal with this one. The Surfin’ Turkey If you’re looking for a sandwich with a little kick, or if you’re just a fan of pepper jelly, give the Surfin’ Turkey a try. This sandwich was another Brioche bun, so it of course needs no introduction, but what about the center of this tasty sandwich? You Can Build Your Own Sandwich Of course, if none of the other sandwiches catch your eye, or if you have a specific craving, you can also build your own sandwich! One of our little crew built her own, starting with sourdough and adding turkey and lettuce—a simple sandwich, but one that still manages to hold its own among the others. But What About the Bagels? After finishing up the Down Payment, I realized that none of us had tried the bagels. When I checked the spread list, I knew I had to rectify that. I’m a huge fan of figs, so I had to try one with their fig and honey spread. I asked for the cashier’s recommendation for bagels, and they suggested blueberry. If you ask me, this is absolutely the correct choice.

I took my eleven year old daughter down here on a Saturday morning to pick up breakfast for us and the wife (at home). There was a line at the door, but the line moved fast, the customers were polite and keeping a safe physical distance, the staff was friendly and helpful (meaning they spoke Starbuck's sizes, thankfully) and the coffee was great. I had the house blend with room for cream, and my daughter had the caramel macchiato (staff even corrected the nomenclature to disambiguate what my daughter requested versus what she wanted, thanks again!). The bagels were great, the cream chees was a little skimpy for a single (but we had some extra at home) and we will definitely be back. For what it is worth, I love going downtown, and I am glad there is a new place to go; the dog park is walking distance and I might take a coffee there next time I go.

It’s the whole experience. On my first trip in the recommendations were spot on. The staff was very knowledgeable of their menu and answered a couple of questions I had. I had an iced latte and the qbecco on an everything bagel, per recommendation. It was an explosion of flavor with ample portion size. The latte was smooth and cool and just a perfect bit sweet. What lured me in shop was the strawberry cream cheese. I paired it with a plain bagel to ensure I got full flavor sweet red berry flavor. It was simple and sweet and fresh and light. I shared with my sister on a Sunday brunch. I went in, ordered, browsed the bookstore, and took out food to go and ate in the car, because the cafe seating and the outdoor seating were all being taken up. It’s a good sign when the seats are full. The service was fast and friendly across the board.

I have a problem and it’s called finding this gem of a place while being on a cut. The location was recommended to us by a Facebook member of the Huntsville FB group (or owner, can’t tell) and I went as promised the following morning. First, the coffee must be talked about. I’m pretty sure it’s from Good Company because their beans have a similar taste, and we really like that because most coffee places in Huntsville switched to light roast and we don’t like light roast. The coffee was dark roast and our Americano’s and lattes were top notch. I love the coffee here more than coffee in most HSV coffee shops. Next, I ordered the Q-Becco sandwich on sourdough and was very impressed by the bread. My spouse got the BLT on sourdough and loved hers equally. Chips on the side were yummy too. The thing that really boggled our minds was how amazing their bagels and normal cream cheese are. I got the everything bagel and normal cream cheese because I just wanted to try them after seeing all these other reviews, and I was really surprised by how chewy, soft, and delicious it was. The girls working at front were really sweet and nice. We’re going to stop by soon again to get lots of bagels for every day home use and try out their other breads because we’ve found our favorite...

TL;DR: delicious bagels from a warm, inviting, locally owned joint.

Canadian Bakin has moved into its own storefront, much to the joy of carb lovers everywhere. With more room to wiggle, they now offer coffees and teas as well as dressed up bagel sandwiches. These sandwiches tend to have creative and fun names but stick to familiar, high quality ingredients. I haven't tried one yet, but I look forward to doing so when I'm more comfortable eating in (which they do allow currently - I'm just not ready!)

As is, I get my bread to go. Options are a smidge limited, but all are tasty. Multiple flavors of bagels (my fave so far is the everything, but I also really like the plain - I'm a purist!), baguettes, German soft pretzels, as well as plain or cinnamon brioche are the staples. However, keep an eye on their social media, as they regularly bake up specials on different days, like Nutella brioche! One day I'll make it by on a Saturday so I can try out the chocolate chip and cinnamon raisin bagels.

They also make cream cheese in house. I've only had the garlic so far, but it's the bomb!

Definitely give this place a go and support your local carb craftsmen! Try a miel while you're there -- they do good...
