Been twice but I don't think we'll be back. If you want to sit outside, prepare to be forgotten. They've got poor service and "large party gratuity" added to groups of four people.
Both times we came it's because the outdoor seating was dog friendly, but on our most recent visit we asked for a dog water three times over the course of our nearly 2.5 hour lunch and never got it. A neighboring table felt bad for our pup as we were giving him water from our plastic cups and let us use their water dish.
We saw our server twice the whole meal. She took our order and was rude when we asked for recommendations and for a dog water. She said she'd tell the waitress to bring it out because she didn't have the time.
Our drinks were refilled and food was dropped off by a different server, and we had to ask for water refills and silverware from other servers because our server didn't come back out until the check.
We had missing items when our food was dropped off and the gal who brought it said they'd send our server to get it fixed, but after 30 minutes she never came and neither did the missing food. It was like the folks sitting outside were totally forgotten because other tables beside us ended up like us, with empty cups and empty plates just waiting to get our checks and leave. I'm not sure if it was just poor section planning that forced them to spend most of their time inside or something, but we were sitting where we could see straight through the bar and most tables were empty, and it seemed like the servers were not out at their tables often. The only workers constantly out and about were the hosts and bartenders.
After waiting about 30 minutes for drinks, 30 for food, 20 for a meal that never got corrected and brought out, and then waiting another 30 with empty plates waiting for our check, we went up to the bar to ask for our check. Our server came out to drop the checks off and we asked for boxes and if we could have the missing items taken off our bill. A different server, again, dropped off the boxes but no one ever came back to fix our bill.
On top of everything there was a "large party gratuity" added for our table of FOUR, which was unheard of for all of us. We've all worked in the service industry and don't skimp on tips, but our server was rude and any service was absent for the whole meal.
We waited another 30 for her to come back with corrections and again asked the bartender if they could ask our server for them, but they never came. We ended up paying with the QR code just to get out of there since we had to go after spending most of our 2-2.5 hour lunch just sitting and waiting for things that never came.
We had to install an app to pay with the QR code and the total on the app was wrong because it was trying to add another 20% tip -on TOP of the mandatory one they added- for a total of 40%!! We were able to figure out the app to waive the double tip but it was an unnecessary hassle.
There is a ton of appeal for the family friendly and dog friendly atmosphere, which really is fantastic. But if they are rude to you for asking for a dog water, which is one if the things they provide to make it dog friendly, on an Alabama summer day it makes it lose that appeal.
The atmosphere is so neat and the food is good, but not good enough to make me want to come back. Not sure if it's new staff or a bad day, but spending upwards of $50 per person (food, app, drink- & items we didn't get!) for lunch at MELT is not something we want...
Read moreCame based on the google reviews. No idea how they got them. The waiter with the neck tattoos treated us as an inconvenience. The place was slow but over an hour before closing on a Sunday evening when we arrived. Seated immediately with a single drink menu then rushed to decide. I was still looking at the drink menu when the waiter wanted to take our food order. I ordered the 3 Amigos and beer battered fries. Sounded good. Ham, chorizo, cheese, and an over easy egg on sourdough. What’s not to like? Then I picked a beer and flagged him down for it. He said it was a can and I thought it was a draft. He asked if it was alright or if I wanted a glass and I said a can was fine.
After awhile or wondering if my beer was coming a guy from the kitchen brought out our food. He said “3 Amigos with an over hard egg.” I said I didn’t order “over hard” I wanted it regular and he said “it’s over something and that’s how it comes” and walked away. The egg was cooked solid. The fries were old…
I was able to get the waiter’s attention and tell him the the kitchen guy said the sandwich was listed “over hard” and asked if my beer was coming. He said he thought I didn’t want the beer but he can put it in and did I want it in a glass. I said a can is fine. Then proceeded to tell me that the sandwich is how it comes but if “I want” they’ll make it with an over easy egg. I just said yes let him take it back.
He decided to pour my beer in a glass anyway and dropped it off then disappeared again. Ok. They brought my plate back with what I can only assume based on the temp, was the same fries and sandwich and a different egg. I ate most of the sandwich trying not to make a fuss in front of my friends after sending food back once, but it was very pathetic. A single deli-thin slice of ham a 2 small equally thin pieces of chorizo and the new egg. Didn’t see the waiter again until I flagged him down for the checks.
I’m attaching a picture of the check and the menu… pretty obvious to me…
Nobody else at the table was happy with their food or the service either btw. I don’t like when people BS me and act like I’m an idiot and don’t know what I’m talking about....
Read moreOut of town , stayed at a local hotel & wanted somewhere to watch a football game & enjoy meal. we were told we could watch in back room where 2 TVs were . Very large TV at that. had the best server !! food was good. by 3rd quarter a manager approached us & told us we had to be quiet for the other guests . needless to say there were others louder than us in same room . An employee talked to us during game about how he didn’t like our team but we weren’t rude . we were told there were small children we needed to be quiet for . but there had already been older kids cheer for opposing team loudly & it was ok. no one was drunk . no one cursed , we cheered at appropriate times & were told to leave . we spent about 400$ in there & then was asked to leave so we counsel accommodate others . basically . they excluded us , we were allowed to run up a big bill & then told to leave. it felt like the bar with tvs showing games was just false advertising, they were not accommodating to sports fans . people dressed as cats were accommodated but not our party . the manager with piercings on face & large earrings & no name or badge kicked us out . won’t ever be back . not our servers fault ,...
