We checked out The Martin on the Saturday at opening weekend. We got there as they were opening the doors. First impression, the steps going upstairs set the tone. Very old school, green marble, kind of like stepping into a 1940's hotel. The open garage doors to outside create a chill environment. They have unique beer on tap (the Weihenstephan Hefe is normally only found in specialty stores and my fiance was thrilled to see Guinness). We shared the tuna appetizer, which was great. Our friend joined us and ate the last piece and ordered another plate! I also had the shrimp tacos which were wonderful. The breading was different than normal (almost like hushpuppy breading) and the remoulade sauce was tasty. We left about 4:30 and they were slammed. But, it appeared they were able to keep up with the demand. We were well taken care of. The prices of some items are steep, but that being said, it's a nice establishment so that is to be expected. Definitely something different that Huntsville...
Read moreThe experience was horrible. The employees that day made our party seem very unwanted and made it so uncomfortable that we ended up leaving. The food was not very good for more than one person and we were a party of about 12 or more (which I believe is what made them upset a big group and issues with food their fault on the food) only to find out that they would not remake the food or replace it and we'd have to pay for another dish in addition to what was not eaten (at this point we didn't want remakes because...well you know). We were told lies about children being allowed AFTER everyone ordered and we're told no refunds would happen...by the way this news did not come until almost and hour later. Insects kept showing up in my drinks after they were sent back twice! Our waitress was nice and we took care of her but we will not be dining here ever again. We were told there was no manager on duty that day so I guess they just did what...
Read moreGreat atmosphere. Food was delicious! The Fried green tomatoes were juussst right!! Not greasy at all. The Nashville Hot Chicken was just the right amount of heat to enjoy the flavor without the fire-per my husband! The shrimp tacos had excellent flavor, the sauce was a bit spicy for my wimpy self, but dabbed off easily and I loved them! The waiter (sorry didn't catch his name), also the bartender, provided some of the best, if Not the best, service we have received. He had NO PROBLEM with special request to leave jalapeños off my tacos. He also was VERY knowledgeable about the menu and was spot on with his descriptions of the food and offered to heat more or lessen per our request!! Last, but not least! The Mexican Corn was to die for! My husband said it was okay- but it had a touch of grilled onions in it and he doesn't like onions! For me, it was the best! His beers were cold ! We should have split a plate,...
