Before I moved away 10 years ago, this was my very favorite place to eat. Evidently it has changed hands since I moved, and while the menu looks the same, the food is not quite the same.
As with almost every restaurant these days, it was a little bit of a wait to get a seat, and I don't hold that against the business. Service in general, during my visit was slow, but she was very friendly. Which made up for a lot of the slowness.
I noticed that their salsa is not quite as good as it used to be when they brought the chips and dip, and the serving was very small. It wasn't terrible at all, but it also wasn't great . I ordered two cheese enchiladas and a shredded beef taco, which is something that I always ordered and again, it was middle of the road, and definitely not the food that I had remembered.
I'm not saying, I wouldn't eat there again, but it definitely wouldn't be my first choice the way it used to be. I'm going to go again before I leave and will update the review if it's a better experience, but if management is reading this, you've definitely got...
Read moreWe have driven by this place so many times, and finally decided to give it a try. So glad we did. There wasn't a large staff, so it took some time to get drinks and give our order. But, our server was very pleasant, and we certainly didn't feel neglected. The complimentary salsa was fantastic. Once our food order was in, it didn't take long to receive it. I ordered the chicken fajita burrito. It was awesome! I loved it. My husband had polla ala crema. It was a little different than what he was used to, but still good. Our friends ordered taco salad, and the macho burrito. They were pleased with their food as well. The atmosphere is welcoming with nice decor. We were treated well. Prices were reasonable. Overall, it was a really great experience. We just had to relax and remember that it's not fast food, enjoy the company we were with, and relish the delicious food. I have been looking for a favorite Mexican restaurant and I think I may...
Read moreWe go here regularly because it's fabulous! The salsa is the best I've had in the city, lots of fresh flavors and just a little bit of a spicy kick at the end. My favorite dish to get here is the shrimp fajitas, hands down! The spices they use along with the grilled onions and peppers really compliment the shrimp nicely. I also really enjoy the smothered carne asada burrito as my next choice. I'd say this restaurant may be one of Idaho Falls' best kept secrets. It's tucked back away from 17th Street off of Jenny Lee and has a really cozy feel to it. One of the things we really like is that even when it's busy, it's a calm and inviting atmosphere where you can have a conversation with your party in a normal speaking voice. Jessica is fantastic and always takes great care of us. I strongly recommend trying Puerto Escondido out if you...
