This was an all around BAD experience. For starters the ladies restroom, only 1 stall, had vomit in the waste basket and on the floor but it was never cleaned up while I was there, so no female guests could use the restroom without being surrounded by vomit. Secondly, I was seated at a tiny table immediately in front of the bathroom door. Sitting at the chair in the photo I posted is impossible for a few reasons: the restroom door opened into this chair, social distancing from other guests is impossible from this table given the proximity to the bathroom, being this close to a bathroom is unsanitary for eating a meal, and this table is in the only narrow hallway to the bathroom door which means guests were constantly bumping into my shoulder while entering and exiting the restroom, yet they made ME feel as if I did not belong there. Non-customers from outside came through the restaurant during my visit to ONLY use the restroom or change clothes as well, so this restroom is for public use, not just customers! Only TWO tables/booths (both immediately next to the kitchen door) in the restaurant had guests at this time, other tables were open with plenty of space for social distancing where I or anyone else should have been seated. The guests who came in after me were then seated at these normal sized booths/tables. I was forced to stare at a BATHROOM DOOR and being shoved by everyone using the restroom while I ate my meal! That alone should have been enough to leave, as an uninterrupted meal was impossible but I gave the food a chance. Thirdly, I ordered the 2 pound crab legs dinner, listed in the menu at $17.99 for 1 lb crab legs and 2 sides, added on another pound. Seemed like a deal until the check came in which I was charged MORE for the second pound of crab legs than the cost of the ENTIRE meal WITH two sides!!! (If you've ever had crab legs, you know that there's minimal meat in a pound of uncooked crab legs with shells on) WHAT!? $17.99 for 1lb and 2 sides... $18.00 for an additional 1 lb of crab legs added on to the crab legs meal. It appears that I was charged for 3 pounds! WHAT!? Upon the meal arriving at the table I asked if there were 2 pounds of crab on the plate, server confirmed that it was 2 pounds. All was served on ONE plate as a single meal but was 3 separate charges on my bill?! How is a restaurant getting away with charging MORE for adding on a PORTION of a meal? I've NEVER been to a restaurant that charges in this way. This is the most absurd fee I've ever seen at a restaurant, and a horrible way to lose a customer! I will NOT return!!! They also do not have a full bar, only beer and wine if that's something that interests you. Small parking...
Read more❤️❤️❤️LOVED❤️❤️❤️ this place! Very laid back. The kinda place I'd hit up regularly if I was a local. When we got there, we were told there was a 45 minute wait, but they seated us out on the patio in under 10. No cocktails, and not really a spectacular beer selection, but the local IPA Jai Alai (which I learned is pronounced Hi-lie, thanks Amanda!) was perfect.
This place has a fantastic menu with creative specials and is crazy cheap for the quality of food. The staff was chill and super friendly. I could see going here mid afternoon and just relaxing with some beers and good food for a few hours.
Having lived in Japan for over 5 years, I'm picky about octopus. The grilled octopus was tender and flavorful. Amanda said they marinate it for at least 19 hours. I would go here just for that. Their house made chili sauce is a perfect complement. 🌶️
We got octopus and raw oysters for appetizers. Some places, you get through the apps and are already stuffed. Not here. The portion sizes were perfect--you can try a bunch of things on the menu and not come away bloated. This is ideal to me.
We got the mahi mahi with black beans and pico de gallo and the balance of flavors was divine. We also got the orange roughy special with chipotle mashed potatoes and we cleaned both plates. They had another special that looked phenomenal but was already sold out when we got there.
For dessert, the key lime pie 🥧. Oh! The key lime pie. Do NOT skip it. That's an order.
Hands down, our favorite dining experience during our trip here. Wish I could give it more...
Read moreWatched Diners, Drive-ins and Dives last night. The show highlighted this place, so I wanted to try it out. The atmosphere is cool, the service was ok but not special, and the food was average. Their char-grilled octopus was delicious! That is what I saw in the tv show. The raw oysters could have been great, bit they must have washed them after they opened them .and washed the flavor right out of them. The ceviche was fresh, light and tasty but it needed something. The She Crab soup was good. The Oyster stew seemed a bit thin and it seemed like they had tried to thicken it with flour but it separated... I would go there for the octopus again, but wouldn't order the other items we had again. Oh..i ordered a St. Pete Orange Wheat. I poured it into a glass and there was sediment (yeast) at the bottom of the glass when I was almost done drinking it. Our server was friendly enough, but seemed like she was just there to do the job..she and another female server sat down to eat something at a two top by the window near us while we were eating. I don't want to see employees, and especially my server, sitting down and eating next to me while I am a guest . There was a male server there who was full of energy and seemed awesome. We wished we had gotten him as our server. Not once were we asked how everything was by our server or the owner who was taking away plates and walking around. So, this is just my opinion. It seems like they just don't put much effort and love into things. Very different from what...
