We have been ClusterTruck loyalists for years. We've been ordering consistently since they opened in Broad Ripple. Most weeks used to order multiple times per week. But the last few months have turned us off in a big way.
First, let me say that their delivery experience is and has always been great. The time from order to delivery is always in line with expectations they provide in their app. Their customer service is generally responsive as well when there is a problem with a delivery.
Now, for the problems. It is SOOOOOO obvious that they are cutting corners for profitability. They have jacked up prices considerably. They short-fill their soups, their salad dressings, quesos and their sauces. Anything that comes in a cup or tub is getting the half-fill treatment. The salads have less and less too.
The quality the last few times has gone way down. The ranch dressing has arrived tasting like a big dollop of sour cream. I LOVE their ranch. It's my favorite ranch and I know when it's not right. Their white bean chili arrived runny, not tasting good and half full.
My husband loves the chicken fingers (buffalo specifically). The price has gone up to $15.99 which is STEEP for an order of chicken fingers and no 'real' sides.
They started offering a 2lb portion ($25.99) but - you can't order two of the same sauce in your 6 sauce options. The sauce selections all have to be different in oder to get the benefit of the 6 total sauces. For example, if you want 3 blue cheese, a bbq and 2 ranch...no go. Can't do it. You can get one of each type of sauce. We gave feedback early on when they introduced that menu item and shared that the user experience doesn't really let you select and maximize the 6 sauces but they didn't change anything about it. We probably would have ordered it much more often if they has solved that. Given the fact that they charge $1.49 for each sauce, this is a really important part of the value that makes $25.99 relevant or viable.
Finally, the new pizza is TERRIBLE and so yucky. We are not fans at all and we miss the old pizza. It was Donotos-esque and thin crust. I used to actually crave it occasionally. The new pizza is not our jam. Save your money and go somewhere that specializes in pizza if that is what you are craving.
I can't say we will never go again but we have cut our ordering here by a factor of 10-20X. The only reason we would consider it again would be for speed...
Read moreWe're pretty happy to see Cluster Truck move into Broad Ripple. I wasn't sure how it would work, with the driver coming to a residence instead of a business, and meeting the driver at the curb, but everything went fine. I popped out my door and there he was! What makes things a bit more difficult is that we live on College Avenue, which has the red line median, making getting to our house a bit of a round about affair. But there was nothing to worry about.
My wife got her favorite Chickpea Bowl and I had the double cheeseburger with side-winder fries. That was much more food than I should really eat in one sitting, but it was tasty. I'd never had the fries before and I'm now a fan.
Let's face it, South Broad Ripple has plenty of food to offer. We walk down the street to Twenty Tap, Fat Dan's, Sams Gyros and Yats on a regular basis. Take out from Sahms Half-Liter is a must. We order delivery from Greeks (since BeBop Pizza Kitchen closed - RIP) and will make the drive for Scarlet Lane or The Sinking Ship (if it ever surfaces again). We're not going to give up on any of these, but having Cluster Truck in the area only adds to the bounty of...
Read moreCluster Truck has become a staple in my life and I do not order from Grubhub,UberEats etc. I love and trust the Cluster Truck business model. High quality, freshly cooked meals not started until you order and one of the best features are their delivery people who do receive your whole tip. I am a pet sitter and have delivery to many different homes within the Broad Ripple location delivery area. The food is always hot upon delivery. Cluster Truck has saved me for dinner so many times when I am rushing from my full time job to the pets I care for and don’t have time to stop at the grocery. They keep expanding their menu without losing quality of their core items. I finally tried the pizza last week and it was delicious and the crust was actually done! Using the app is easy, you earn real points to use on future orders. The only one thing you can’t do is customize certain items, which I understand. Keep up the great work...
