As I stumbled through the sweltering streets of the city, my parched throat burned with a ferocity that transported me back to the arid battlefields of Vietnam and Korea. The memories of those distant conflicts, where thirst was a constant companion amidst the chaos of war, mingled with the present sensation of dehydration, casting a shadow of discomfort upon my weary frame. With each step, the weight of fatigue and thirst bore down upon me like the burdens of war, dragging my spirit into the depths of exhaustion. It was then that I chanced upon a beacon of respite amidst the urban sprawl: The Melt, a burger fast food sanctuary promising relief from the torment of thirst. Entering the cool confines of the establishment, I was greeted by the comforting aroma of grilled meat and freshly baked buns. Yet it was not the siren call of the burger that drew me forth, but rather the promise of liquid salvation in the form of a snickerdoodle shake. As I approached the counter, my mouth parched and tongue swollen with thirst, I beseeched the attendant for a snickerdoodle shake with a fervor born of desperation. With a sympathetic nod, they swiftly prepared the concoction, blending together creamy vanilla ice cream with the warm embrace of cinnamon and sugar. As the first sip touched my lips, it was as if a dam had burst, flooding my senses with a tidal wave of relief. The cool sweetness of the shake soothed my scorched throat, washing away the memories of battle and leaving behind only the blissful sensation of satiation. With each subsequent sip, the flavors danced upon my palate like a symphony of indulgence, the rich creaminess of the ice cream melding harmoniously with the spicy warmth of cinnamon. It was a taste sensation unlike any other, a moment of heavenly respite amidst the trials of life. In that fleeting moment of bliss, as I savored the last drops of the snickerdoodle shake, I found solace in the simple pleasures of existence. For in the midst of turmoil and thirst, there exists always the possibility of finding sanctuary, even if only in the form of a humble burger fast food restaurant and a frosty,...
Read moreThis is less of a bad mark on the food as it is a warning to any families in a similar situation. Hence the 3 star.
The burger was phenomenal and my spouse loved it. 5 stars
I always get the Mac Daddy and this go around the Mac n cheese was poorly done. It was not very cheesy, the noodles were kind of dry and harder than usual. The sandwich itself was lackluster compared to past trips. 3 stars
The place was dirty, a lot of young kids working there without bothering to clean tables. They were very nice, but again did not seem like the past trips. 3 stars.
Finally, here's mainly why there was a big issue for me and I'm iffy on returning unless it's just myself and my spouse. When there is a nutrition chart for your restaurant online, you better ensure that the kids you employ can make it how it's calculated. My son is a type 1 diabetic taking 2 different types of insulin. His kids Mac n Cheese looked very poor. The rue was liquid and collected like a drink at the bottom of his cup. When we calculated per the nutrition chart and that's what we got, it's too late at that point. My son's glucose level plummeted and only by experience was I able to keep him at a safe level. It was so inaccurate in fact that my son had to have an additional 60g of carbs to offset the insulin given vs the true carbs of the meal amount. For any parent that doesn't monitor as closely as I do, their child could be hospitalized for hypoglycemia. 60g is the equivalent of 5 units of fast acting insulin which without the associated carbs, could put an adult into a diabetic emergency. This was a child. Very disappointed and very wary...
Read moreWe drove by Irvine Spectrum Center a lot of times, it's a landmark of Irvine. Lara and I drove from Pasadena to La Jolla for her lab and drove back every Monday and Tuesday, it was always in hurry. This time was the final on Friday, we decide to get there on Thursday and stay overnight for the morning exam. We did have enough time, so we had a chance to have something. We went to Spectrum Center and had a walk, it was St. Patrick's Day. A group of people in green walked by, and the other four youngs sat around a table all with the green necklaces around the wrist. The Pet Kitchen had a green decoration as well. Besides the normal franchise Chiptole, Panda Express and etc. We walked into The Melt. We ordered two hamburgers both at $8.99 before the tax. Both burgers came with a cute pickled cucumber put aside. We cut the burgers in half then we could have both to taste. The Swiss ‘n’ Shroom MeltBurger had a very strong mushroom flavor which I like. The patty of the Spicy Mission MeltBurger was a little too dry but still acceptable. The spicy was jalapeno not too strong, and obviously sour taste which was good. After all, the mushroom one was better than the spicy one. BTW, the surface of the bun was too oily. Also, the cute pickled cucumber was very very sour, it's too...
