Mediterranean Buffet in Dallas: Andalous

Didn't have a single star. We went there yesterday to enjoy our buffet, thinking the cost is 16.99$ per person on weekdays like advertised on some instagram reels. When we asked the receptionist whether we need to pay upfront, she told we can do it later. There is no display which shows the cost of buffet anywhere around. Once we started filling our plates, the dishes were placed in such a way that we can reach only one of them, when we asked whether we can come over the other side to reach the far dishes, the staff were like NO. When we said we want to try them they would just swap with the nearer ones, replacing the near ones to far from reach. I don't understand whether they want us to have only one of them. Some dishes were already empty like the samosas. When asked they were not refilled and said we're done for the day. How come, we paid for everything right. When we were about to sit down and eat, the staff member aks us to pay first. To my surprise the price was 29$ for one person including taxes. When asked she mentioned it's special buffet for Ramadan which we weren't aware of at all. No display of buffet price or change in price when we entered and asked. The price changed suddenly when we filled our plates and set to eat. With no choice left we spent double the amount for such a distasteful food which we didn't like at all. And the dessert part it's one Baklava for one person🙄. Why did we even come to this restaurant at all. We regret it a lot now. There are many better options out there. Please don't waste your time and money to set to eat at this cafeteria style buffet place.

I went to this place to try a new thing. When I got there there was no instructions of how is the dynamics of restaurant, where I should order and how many options I had included on the plate, (after a while I found a board with some instructions) they were also out of pitta breads and when I asked about it, the guy opening the oven said "I'm working on it" really harshly. Later I asked some questions like "whats the flavors, and if he got any recommendations" for the guy in front of the humus options and he acted like I shouldn't be asking questions, really confusing experience until I get to the salad guy that kinda explained to me the options, what was included and how much would be for each add on. The meat option was my mistake, it tasted really sweet like they put sugar on it mixed with curry, but they told me it was regular roasted beef. Anyway, the food was not great as I was expecting, the service was disappointing, and the atmosphere was average. I don't know if I would give another try to take the bad impression away... 🫤

TL;DR: Food is meh, ambiance is fine, service is lacking, and value for money isn’t there.

Visited for the first time during a team lunch, chosen by a colleague for the cuisine, the good-to-very-good reviews, and the convenient location near three major freeways. On the plus side, the space was clean, the ambiance is acceptable—bright enough and not overly noisy—and the food ranged from fairly acceptable to acceptable.

That said, the experience didn’t match expectations. We arrived around noon, and the place wasn’t crowded, yet it took 20–25 minutes to get our food, most of which appeared pre-made. As a first-timer, I mentioned I was new, but guidance through the buffet stations was minimal. I was told to get the platter as it’s “most popular,” but as I moved down the line—picking hummus, grape leaves, and a couple of salads—I unknowingly ended up with six sides. The signage, with the word “FREE” in bold red across the buffet line, didn’t help, nor did the cryptic explanations from staff. Only at the register did I learn there was an upcharge, leading to sticker shock and less time with the group as we all queued far longer than necessary.

The part that frustrated me most was the missed opportunity to assist a first-time customer. Instead of clear explanations, the process felt like a guessing game. On top of that, not a single staff member checked in on our table, which is rare for a double-digit group. Overall, the experience fell short on service, transparency, and value.

(Side note: This might go down as the most I’ve ever spent on an ounce of hummus. And if you want to get the lamb, apparently it's a $4.50 “upgrade,” which is over 30% on top of the already trickily...

The restaurant is clean and well designed. It is set up as a buffet of sorts. The food is appetizing. I ordered the gyro sandwich/wrap. It tasted good but was kinda short on the gyro meat. The wrap itself was tasty and paired well with their taziki sauce. The fries that came with a to-go order aren't that big a portion and just bad. They are the crinkle cut fries you can buy at Walmart. Unseasoned and no flavor. I wouldn't recommend them. The lamb shank comes with sauce and steamed vegetables. The vegetables are plane. Just there for texture and aesthetics. The sauce is good. The lamb shank meat is good. So overall about food, their actual entrees are good, not amazing. Their sides and garnishes leave ALOT to be desired. The reason this is a 3 star and not a 4 star review is due to their BAD customer service. From not wearing their masks properly to disregarding their mistakes on phone orders. The cashier didn't have my order started until I got there when I had placed an order for pick up at 4pm for a 745 pick up. Just waved off the issue with "we have a lot of orders before you". If I owned this establishment, that employee would be fired or at the very least retrained on proper customer service. He is a little man with curly black hair and of Indian/pakistani/bengali/you get the picture descent. He ruined what could have been a good experience. Just beware putting in phone orders. Not worth your trouble. It'd probably be better to show up and eat inside rather than deal with a callous and...
