Friends Hookah Lounge — Restaurant in Irving

So tonight when I’ll be the first and last time at this establishment. The best thing about this place was the security guard at the door and the female DJ. My siblings and I rarely ALL get together but we did tonight and decided to celebrate one of our brother’s birthday today. Cover charge was $20!! Which is normally no problem but you’re charging $20 for people to come in and literally order hookah. No other forms of excitement. I mean the music literally kept it good for me until the female DJ switched out with the guy. I mean he played nice songs but the lady had me out my seat. I don’t smoke hookah and didn’t know it was a separate charge for BYOB. The junket part is we were told by a gentleman that if we wasn’t gonna buy a hookah it was gonna be an extra $150 JUST TO SIT THERE. AND THEN HE PROCEEDED TO TELL US AND IF WE DISNT WANT TO PAY THAT WE CAN JUST LEAVE. Now by this time we’ve only been here only 45...

I visitibg from out of town googled friends hookah and decided t give it a shot. Let's start with the hookah which tasted burnt. Im use to the starbuzz brand shisha so thats kinda what I love... idk what brand shisha they had but it was NOT good.. plus both the owner and wife DID NOT have on a mask.! I gave 2 stars bc the owner did try fixing the burnt tasting hookah which by the way didn't work plus he allowed me to use his phone to play my choice of music but when I started playing my choice music (r&b chris brown) whatever movie they were looking at got extremely louder and over shadowed the music.! At that point it was time for me to go. If you are a regular hookah smoker like me, or you are someone who needs everyone to adhere to covid mandates dont waste your time you will be very disappointed. I will not...

The owner obsessively bugs you to buy drinks even though it's BYOB but you have to pay to drink your own. If that is the case then that should be in the cover cost to assure that they get paid too. If you are allowing people to use your venue then why not have a percentage worked out with them? The atmosphere is cool but is distroyed by the staff bugging every patron in the building. The first time I came the cover cost was raised at the door to $20 a person plus you are made to purchase in the building per person to drink. The first time I didn't even bring drinks with me. The second time I payed to rent the entire venue for my show and still had to pay cover and purchased. I'm being nice giving them 2 stars honestly... I DO NOT recommend this place at all. They will OVER charger...
