Pollo Campero — Restaurant in Irving

First and foremost the immediate impression walking in was a light hearted joint with Mexican undertones. I was standing up there for a bit but not too long before my order was taken. Saw on here the music was too loud but I don't know if they lowered it or if the snowflakes didn't like the music or whatever. I had received a free 2 pc meal coupon and it came with one side and a drink. The choices of sides were in front of me and I saw Yucca Fries. I didn't know what this was but it looked like steak fries from the image. So I chose to order the signature side along with rice and two pcs of chicken. I sit down and it wasn't before long that my lunch came on am actual plate delivered by one of the staff members. I'm glad I ordered two sides because the rice alone wouldn't have filled me up. The chicken can be either fried or grilled, I was never asked this option but I was open minded either way. The Yucca Fries were light and crispy on the outside, yet rich as hell on the inside. It was pretty damn surprising coming from a fast food joint. They were better than the other fast food places I've been to. The chicken wasn't too greasy, or too crispy, and it had good flavor and overall 4/5 fried chicken. My only criticism is the rice. Too dry, doesn't taste or resemble fresh but I can understand the hastle of making fresh rice. Had to add some of that verde sauce to it. I'll try their empanadas and boneless wings next. Terrible service from the beginning. I pull up to pick up a mobile order, I let the white complected, skinny lady running the drive thru know the name the order was under which was my wife’s. She proceeds to ask for a (receipt) very rudely. I proceed to call my wife to send me screenshot of order since the lady wouldn’t give me order until I showed her. After that, she informs me they gave me a leg and thigh because the breast I ordered wasn’t ready and it would take 10mins. I proceed to tell her to just give me 2 thighs since I don’t have time to wait. She doesn’t say anything and just looks at me with such an attitude. Finally a different Hispanic lady that worked in the kitchen brought me my order and she was very sweet. First time eating pollo campero from this location. The beans taste l straight out of the can, no real flavor, all artificial. The chicken was burnt and no flavor, the mango water isn’t fresh, it’s out of the fountain or bottle, taste like water with sugar. It’s the first time and last time I come here. 🤢🤢🤢 Also train your employees on racial sensitive. There’s no reason why y’all being a latin own restaurant aren’t aware that Latinos are not just brown with brown or black hair and treat people who don’t look the part in a racist and humiliating manner.
