Alert for Vegetarian’s:
Last evening, we visited this restaurant to have a vegetarian Thali (I am a strict vegetarian) with my young child. To our shock, we found a piece of chicken in the Dal (Pappu). We immediately reported the issue and asked the manager to address it. Later, I received a WhatsApp call from someone named Murali, who introduced himself as the owner of the restaurant chain.
Instead of addressing the seriousness of the situation, he simply apologized and offered to refund the amount we paid. His explanation was that “humans make mistakes, and if someone says sorry, you should accept it.” He also mentioned being a vegetarian himself and implied that he would be okay if served non-veg by mistake as long as he received a refund. This response made it clear that they did not fully understand the gravity of the issue, or the trust customers place in them when choosing their restaurant.
Adding to the disappointment, the parotta served had a stinky smell and tasted like it was made with old, bad oil. When we reported this, they replaced it with fresh parottas after some delay, but this only happened after we raised the issue.
If you are particular about vegetarian food, food quality, or hygiene, I recommend being extremely cautious when dining here. Double-check your food before consuming it, as such mistakes and poor-quality control can cause distress and are unacceptable. This incident highlights serious concerns about their attention to food safety, quality, and customer trust.

Read moreMy recent dining experience at Kuppanna's Thiru Kuppuswamy Unavagam left me impressed with their Kongu-style biryani, kizhi parota, and kothu parota, but slightly underwhelmed by their uraveechina parota. The biryani, both in chicken and mutton variants, showcased the rich flavors and aromatic spices characteristic of Kongu cuisine, earning them high praise.
The kizhi parota was a standout dish, with its flaky layers and enticing aroma, providing a satisfying crunch with every bite. Similarly, the kothu parota delighted with its bold flavors and hearty ingredients, making it a crowd favorite.
However, the uraveechina parota fell short of expectations. While enjoyable, the lack of coconut hindered its flavor profile, leaving it with a somewhat average taste. A richer coconut infusion could have enhanced the dish and elevated it to the same level as the other offerings.
The pallipaliyam chicken failed to impress, lacking the depth of flavor and spice that one would expect from this Kongu delicacy. Even after requesting a replacement with nettili fish, we found ourselves faced with another culinary disappointment. The nettili fish lacked the essential seasoning of salt, leaving it bland and unappetizing.
Overall, Kuppanna's Thiru Kuppuswamy Unavagam delivers a commendable dining experience, showcasing the best of Kongu cuisine. With slight improvements, particularly in the uraveechina parota, nettili fry, and pallipaliyam chicken those have the potential to become an even more sought-after destination for South Indian food...
Read moreWhat a disaster!! Another South Indian restaurant and another disappointment. I base my reviews on the dishes that I ordered and that were on the menu but not available. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes, oh wait, what!!
There used to be another restaurant called Kumars in this location and that was a complete scam of a restaurant. I get the feeling that there is a new owner and a new name but everything else remains the same.
I ordered a starter and was told that it wasn’t available. Ordered the chicken lollipop and the paneer Manchurian starters. Chicken Lollipop was completely burnt and almost black. The paneer Manchurian had an overwhelming uncooked garlic flavor. The biriyani was ok but nothing close to the namesake “special mutton biriyani”.
The employees were very cordial and pleasing in their approach and that’s about the only good thing. Having said that we were asked how the food tasted and we gave them a honest opinion. Their response was “sorry”.
If you are a non South Indian you’ll leave this place fuming and utterly disappointed. If you are a South Indian, this will be a total compromise. I’m wondering how this restaurant has such good reviews...
