Quite simply, the best Thai food I have found ANYWHERE in the DFW metroplex in the 10+ years I have lived here.
Not only is the food fresh, amazing, and delicious, but the girl who always waits on me is literally the sweetest person I have ever encountered in the service industry, and all of the cooks/managers she works with (who are CLEARLY her parents/siblings/uncles/aunts/cousins/etc.) are all almost just as kind and extremely accommodating.
It's the type of place where the cook, manager, and your server all stand by, with bated breath (at a respectful distance, so as to not make you feel uncomfortable or on the spot), eagerly awaiting your reaction to the first bite.
It's quite obvious by their body language that their food is a source of great pride to them, and they want nothing more than their customers' full approval before they can feel good about it. Just a great place!
They also routinely would open the dining room just for me so I could eat my lunch there, despite the fact that they were technically closed for their post-lunch downtime/dinner prep. This always meant a GREAT deal to me, because it was completely unnecessary. But they were absolutely insistent, because I was a regular customer.
Ideally I would NEVER even consider asking to be served when a restaurant is closed, but it just so happened that my lunch break was at 2:30 everyday, which meant that making a special accommodation for me was the only way I would ever be able to eat there.
Since I had already been well established as a regular by the time my lunch break time had been changed, they just flat-out refused to take no for an answer when I tried to leave, once I realized that they were closed. After that first time, they would only let me leave once they had secured a PROMISE from me that I knock on the door any time I wanted to eat lunch during their post-lunch downtime.
Only after their repeated insistence that I continue to come for lunch despite my break being during the time they were closed every day, and only after they PROMISED me that they WOULD turn me away if it ever WAS inconvenient for them to serve me on any given day, did I reluctantly agree to this arrangement. Needless to say, I tipped a minimum of 30% every time I ate lunch there from that day forward!
Unfortunately, post-COVID they wound up closing my office down altogether, and having us permanently work 100% remote, so I haven't had much opportunity to eat there lately, since it's hard to justify driving all the way to Irving from McKinney just for food.
But I will DEFINITELY continue to go out of my way to give them my business anytime I am anywhere close to their neck of the woods during a mealtime! Not just my favorite Thai restaurant, but one of my favorite restaurants, period!
I just wanted to make sure that I give them the credit they are due. If you haven't done so already, and have a great love for authentic Thai cuisine, do yourself a favor and give Thai E San a try! I promise you won't regret it...
BTW - For those of you that are huge fans of spicy food like myself, I just wanted to make you aware that even though it's not on the menu anywhere, the server confided in me one day upon me placing my normal "five stars" order that unlike most Thai restaurants, they do not stop at five stars as a maximum spice level. In fact, they will go all the way up to "TWENTY-FIVE STARS" on the spice! I honestly had never even heard of such a thing, and felt quite honored to be let in on the secret.
Unfortunately, I have always found their "five stars" to be the PERFECT amount of spiciness (unlike literally every other Thai restaurant I have ever tried, where "five stars" has still been disappointingly underwhelming), so I have never had the cause, nor the opportunity to put their 25-star maximum to the test, but I still appreciate knowing that it's...
Read moreThai Cuisine Streak for 4 consecutive Saturdays now. We had our Saturday dinner at this Thai restaurant after reading amazing reviews and photos on Google Maps. I'd give a review later on but let me just write my order. We ordered Fried Spring Rolls (served with plum sauce), Basil Fried Rice with Tofu and Extra Veggies, Drunken Noodles with Tofu and Extra Veggies, and Diet Soda/s.
Review: The food was not up to par as mentioned in the Google Maps reviews. Plum sauce served with 6 Fried Spring Rolls was enough for just a single roll. We asked for another sauce and to my surprise, we were charged for it. As we asked for extra veggies in Drunken Noodles, I felt like we were just having veggies and tofu - very less drunken noodles. The only item that I liked was the Basil Fried rice.
Service: The service was very poor. We had to get up, take a walk for a spoon or order a refill for the soda. Ideally, it should be them to keep checking on their customers if everything is good or they need something.
I have had thai food at multiple restaurants run by many local business owners and they have served authentic thai dishes per our taste /spice level but the food/ service we received at Thai E San Irving Restaurant were not up to the mark. To add, it's the experience that counts and now I am well aware of where I should not visit for my Thai...
Read moreHad been wanting to try this place out for a while now, finally had the chance yesterday, and so glad we did! Everything was fantastic! They start out by bringing you a small complimentary salad with a peanut dressing that was pretty tasty. I didn't get a picture of it, though. The spring rolls were fresh out the deep fryer... perfectly hot, crispy, and delicious served with their plum sauce. The crab fried rice was made with REAL lump crab meat (I made sure to ask when ordering as I DO NOT like imitation crab) and it was just what I was looking for! Fresh, flavorful, and satisfying! My son had the chicken pad thai and it was just as tasty as everything else! It's served with lime cheeks for that extra razzle dazzle that really picks the dish up. I asked for extra lime cheeks to squeeze on my crab fried rice which really elevated the dish as well. We got a spice level of 3 (on a scale of 1-5) on both dishes and they were a wee bit too spicy for us but still enjoyable. Next time we'll ask for a 2, and there will most definitely be a next time! Service and atmosphere were on point as well, very friendly, clean, and inviting establishment. They have a really yummy and refreshing Thai coffee also. If you're in the mood for awesome Thai food, this is...
