I hate to give this a bad review as I was really looking forward to eating here. I cannot however imagine how it is considered the best tacos in the keys. We were a party of two, here is what we had and what we thought of it. Baja Style Tacos (Snapper): 3/10 pretty bland for something that had chipotle sauce, the "jalapeños" on it was a single very very thin slice. The food wasn't bad but it didn't taste like much of anything either. The breading wasn't very good either. Cayo hueso Tacos (Snapper): 4/10 It was ok, food was definitely fresh but it was bland. Fish was a little dry. For the rest of the toppings being bland, I wouldve liked more toppings. Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers: 3/10 they were surprisingly tasteless for something thats supposed to be full of flavor. The jalapeños were real tiny and the bacon was not that good. The cheese somehow was almost chalky tasting. Aqua Fresca: 8/10 extremely refreshing. Used real fresh watermelon. Definitely a highlight of the meal Tropical Smoothie: 7/10 Refreshing, and felt fresh. Overall this was a huge disappointment. The area looks pretty but there were flies covering our table, there were literally 10 flies that wouldn't leave us alone and they were big. There was a cute chicken that walks around. The food was super overpriced, for 2 orders of tacos, 2 drinks, and an appetizer it was over $70 which I couldn't believe. Portions are tiny and not filling in the slightest. From someone who lives in an area rich with Mexican food and street tacos, this place is a far cry from authentic. Fresh doesnt equal authentic. I would heavily recommend driving right past this place...
Read moreUnfortunately I had a really bad experience with the food here. I ordered a burrito and some tortilla chips, here's what I got:
Tortilla Chips: tasted like plastic or soap, I still can't figure out what was the exact flavor but it invaded everything.
Spicy sauce: It didn't taste like the thing (Cholula). Maybe it was refilled with something else, maybe was badly stored and got spoiled or maybe was the effect of the tortilla chips.
Guacamole: no salt, no acidity and the tomato pieces were too mushy, almost like puree. Avocado was getting dark as well.
Burrito (pork): wasn't evenly distributed inside: I got big chunks of each ingredient, some of which were refrigerator-cold. There was a huge tortilla fold (cold also) on one side, making those bites taste like tortilla.
Maybe I wasn't lucky on this one... I should have returned it all but I...
