I’m glad this restaurant opened up! The food is good and has so much potential to becoming great! but I can’t give it a 5 stars due to the disorganization of the staff and a questionable food choice.
My advice to the restaurant is they make a dedicated host stand with sign so people can sign in via electronically or with a dedicated person that is a host. The very least (whether there is a host or not) make it a policy that all staff greet the guests immediately when they come in. Customers left due to the disorganization and staff, actively ignoring them when they walked in. Heck the manager/owner could have stepped in to greet customers.
Second piece of advice: I wanted to order a cocktail but wasn’t able to due to the design of the app and the servers are essentially food runners- meaning I barely saw them unless to get food and had to flag someone down just to get a to-go box. Fix the app or hire more servers (and have them take the orders esp drink orders).
My third piece of advice goes to the food. The food overall was delicious BUT they did themselves a culinary disservice by using thin fries in their bullfrog hot pot. The fries are bland (wasn’t mixed well with the stir fry) and became oil sponges- soggy and unappetizing. I think it’s innovative to use fries BUT thin white not fresh fries is a terrible idea and brings down the quality of the dish and is a waste of money for the restaurant and customer. This can be fixed by making fresh crispy golden brown steak fries (no frozen fries & pale) that are seasoned, this way they add substance to the dish and a nice texture. Otherwise save the hassle and get rid of the fries all together- there is already sliced potatoes in it. Either have the fries with no sliced potato or have the sliced potatoes with no fries.
I hope to come back again with it more organized and to order the bullfrog again (after it improved). I wish the restaurant much success and will change my review accordingly. I want to give this...
Read moreDanggui Bellevue has always been our family’s favorite restaurant, but the new Issaquah location is a complete nightmare. When we arrived, we had to wait for a table. After registering in the system, we waited nearby. We waited a total of 40 minutes, during which the host called only one number, even though there were at least five empty tables and over 15 people waiting. I asked the host why they weren’t calling numbers, and she replied that some people who had taken numbers hadn’t shown up. I responded that even so, it shouldn’t take 40 minutes. She then said the kitchen was too busy, so they weren’t calling numbers. But there were empty tables—couldn’t they let guests sit down and wait?
After finally being seated, it took 15 minutes for anyone to bring water or take our order. We noticed there was a QR code on the table for ordering, so we scanned it and placed our order that way. About 15 minutes later, the food started coming out, but two different servers came to ask if we had ordered, which was very odd.
Out of the five dishes we ordered, four were overly salty, and two had uneven seasoning—half the dish was salty while the other half was bland. It felt like the kitchen was in such a rush that they didn’t even stir the dishes properly before serving. Throughout the meal, no server refilled our water or asked how the food was. The service and the food were both terrible!
Additionally, because the floor is black, it’s easy to see dirt. While waiting in the lobby, I noticed scraps of paper, spilled water, and even a leaf of green vegetable on the floor! This restaurant is an...
Read moreFirst the wait. We had to enter a waitlist and it took almost 40 min with just 2 tables ahead of us. That’s not the restaurants fault and doesn’t affect the rating.
We visit the Bellevue location a few times a year so it’s natural we’d compare the food to that location
The food: The chilli chicken was pretty much identical and good. We decided to try a couple of dishes we hadn’t had before since the menu looked a little different. The salted egg tofu was interesting with a mild salty flavor. I enjoyed but my kids didn’t.
The disappointment was the giant braised pork shoulder from the steamed menu section. The dish came out looking like someone cleaned out the meat off the shoulder and deep fried it, and it looked just like the chilli chicken. I associate a braised item from a steamed section to be a wet dish. I was expecting a slow cooked pork shoulder and not a fried item. The pork was flavorful but chewy. I had the waiter confirm it was the dish I ordered and he did so it’s partially my fault not confirming it was a wet dish.
The space: layout is a little weird. 2 large round tables that could seat up to 10 ppl. Some booths against the wall, some booths in an open space and some weirdly placed 2 tops where you’d expect open space to walk and lastly 2 more 2 tips along the window...
