Fins Bistro
Delicious food and friendly staff. I had heard good things about this place and it did not disappoint. We started with a couple drinks, an old fashioned and an alternate version of a Moscow mule, both of which tasted great.
I had the King Salmon, which came with Dungeness crab meat, roasted potatoes, broccolini and a delicious sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly and everything paired well together.
My GF had the Miso Black Cod with kimchi rice, beet purée and seasonal vegetables. Her dish was cooked well and was delicious too. I had never had kimchi rice before so that was nice to try and I liked it so much I want to try to make some sometime.
We inquired about the menu changing and our waitress said it changes seasonally. We mentioned that we had seen Halibut cheeks on the menu and that I had some in my freezer from a fishing trip up to in Alaska and I was wondering the best way to cook them. She gave us some suggestions and then to our surprise she went and got the chef, who happened to be her husband, and he gave us a full explanation of how to prepare and cook them. I was very thankful and so impressed that they were both so friendly and generous with their time to give us recipes and cooking techniques.
We enjoyed our dinner so much we decided to try dessert. We couldn’t decide if we wanted the chocolate ganache torte or the Pineapple creme brûlée, so we got both since the waitress said the pineapple creme brûlée was their specialty. I figured I would like the chocolate more because I usually enjoy chocolate more than fruit but the creme brûlée was so good I actually enjoyed it the most.
This is now on my top places to eat and quite possibly at the very top because of the great food paired well with the amazing hospitality of all the employees. I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner out and I’ll definitely...
Read moreIs it illegal to ask for service dog documents? Yes, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is illegal for a restaurant to demand documentation, certification, or proof that an animal is a service animal as a condition of entry. Staff may only ask two questions when the need is not obvious: Is the animal required because of a disability? What work or task has the animal been trained to perform?
I walked in to fins asking for outside seating. They did not even allow me to speak before they assumed my dog wasn't a trained service dod. They didn't ask any key questions they asked for Documents that proved she was. I am 100% disabled and was looking forward to having a nice experience with my very well behaved service dog. Who's task is to Allert me of seizures. Instead they raised their voices and demanded to see papers proving my dogs legitimacy. This place was completely empty at 4pm. Now I know why. The staff need to be better educated about service dog laws and ADA rights. I walked away rather than deal with rude staff members. I will never try to eat there and will not suggest anyone try them either. Not...
Read moreMy review might not be fair to this establishment, but it is the experience I had. Ordered calamari, bruschetta, the salmon penne and the seafood risotto. Calamari was good, fresh, crisp, good flaky breading. Bruschetta was ok, bread was yummy, but the toppings was a big ball of tomato, olive, arugula and artichoke with a very light balsamic flavor to it. The salmon penne was ok. The seafood pasta. That's where I give a 1 star, the flavor was ok, not amazing but not bad. Scallop was nicely cooked, shrimp was ok, the clams and the mussel were ok. The risotto had a cheesy and light saffron flavor. I ate about 90% of the plate, until I found 2 bugs at the bottom of my plate. You can imagine the rest. How many more did I eat? I mean really, how many more. I only saw them because they were black and the bottom of the plate was white. So that's why I give this a 1 star. My plate was comped, not the bill, just the plate. But atleast I didnt have to pay...
