I hate to trash any local business but I strongly suggest avoiding the Jackson Antique Mall at Jackson St and Pearl St in downtown Jackson. And I say this having spent some real money in there at times, including on the Bertoia side chair right behind me, a beautiful C Curtis Jere type wire wall hanging with geese at The Shack, and the elegant MCM cabinet that is the first thing you see upon entering our condo here at Nelson Towers. So today Lisa and I go in to look around, and find a couple of things to get, really almost out of sympathy, including a goofy old Spiro Agnew wastebasket with a price tag of $17.50, a St. Patrick’s Day postcard for $2.50, and a beat to hell volume of Escher drawings from the basement for a dollar. $21.00, just over the (why?) $20 limit to use a debit card. Dude rings me up and says like $34.17 and I’m like uh here is price tag for $17.50 inside the basket, apparently I had not noticed original price and he had not noticed it was on sale. No problem right? Well his next response is ‘we don’t do cards on sale items’. I asked a couple questions got ‘well this is our policy etc’. Deciding not to be the male Karen today we just walk out without saying a word. Never to...
Read moreYeah they have tons of stuff but the two owners, an old man and and old woman are the absolute meanest, most rude and inconsiderate people I've ever came in contact with. I had called twenty minutes prior to closing and asked if they had any rhinestone necklesses as I lost place of mine and needed one for a very special night, the old woman responded snarky with " oh you have to come in here and look I'm not going to look there's too much" and I politely told her that I'd arrive close to closing and if so, would they be ok to stay open a couple extra minutes as I wasn't browsing, I was looking for a certain thing and she yelled at me! Told me they've been in business over 30 years and not changing their hours. So I sped to get there before they closed and the doors were locked and my friend knew the old man Tom I believe his name is and got him to open the door only to tell us No, they closed the door and said they wouldn't let us shop even though we we there before closing. And he shut the door in our face and has the ugliest look on his face. Will never recommend that...
Read moreThe owner was welcoming and friendly, o.g. guy, has values, works very hard...but I just cannot wrap my head around his prices, I mean I was completely shocked 🤯 when my total was given to me, I didn't know because nothing is priced and I kept asking and he would simply say that I was getting a bundle type deal...I really enjoyed his company and would have been shopping there continuously, however I was going to buy one pair of earrings, an old small paint bucket, a tiny coin purse, and a belt buckle, his total was almost $135.and change, I wish I would have taken pictures to tell the story....now I researched the Internet for exactly the same items and earrings were $5, paint bucket $5, belt buckle $14.99 and the coin 👛 I could not find the exact but the similar ones were around $5.99 to 7.99 because of being "vintage"...I'm not one to argue about prices when they r fair but I just can't see anything else for sale being fair priced so no offense to the owner but I will not be a return...
