I recently visited Greystone Tavern in Jackson after hearing they were voted āBest Burgers.ā Unfortunately, my experience didnāt reflect that. I ordered my burger deluxe, but it came smothered in so much mustard and ketchup ā on both the top and bottom bun ā that it fell apart immediately. The bun was soaked and barely edible, and the overwhelming amount of condiments completely ruined the flavor. It honestly made me gag afterward and gave me an instant stomach ache.
The highlight of the visit was the bartender who actually served us. I didnāt catch her name, but she was taller with dark hair and dark eyes and she was wonderful ā attentive, friendly, and clearly experienced. Her service alone is the reason this isnāt a one-star review.
The atmosphere, however, was affected by the other bartender on shift (I believe her name was Hailey). She spent most of our visit either outside with customers or being very loud, yelling, cussing, and making a scene inside. I understand bars and taverns can be noisy, but her behavior was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional. At one point, I genuinely thought she might be drunk because of how she was carrying on.
Overall, the food and the environment didnāt match the āBest Burgerā reputation. The bartender who served us was excellent, but the kitchen and overall professionalism missed the mark. I hope the consistency improves because the place has potential with the right balance of service...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalking in at 7 on a Friday night we got good times, a lot of laughs, friendly chatter and family vibes, which was cool. The chicken strips, onion rings, waffle fries, mozzarella sticks (sampler platter), chicken fajita wrap were all really good and tasted homemade and fresh. The nacho chips that came with the wrap were just ok but who cares, it was like a garnish. We went to AKA Sushi the night before to celebrate our anniversary and it wasn't close to being good(being from Detroit we know good sushi) made us feel sick, paid way more and left hungry due to some of the food being rancid and inedible. (Who charges that much for a crammed weird bowl of iceberg that you're forced to try to eat with chopsticks lol...story for another time)This place, the vibes, the people, the staff, the food...it was a package deal. It's not gourmet, it's a bar, but it's GOOD! Feels like home for the first time in 2 years after moving to the Jackson area and definitely made our anniversary more fun. We were really missing our hometown hole in the wall bar vibes and we will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family decided to get food here and called in a takeout order. It was a large order, 4 sandwiches, fries, onion rings, and a salad. The sandwiches were raved about, but that salad was a bit disturbing. Upon opening container the looks of the slices of chicken on top told me that it was overcooked by far and would be dry (and it was), that large container of salad had, two slices of both cucumber, and green pepper (with seeds included) which makes me question if they even rinse the vegetables they serve. I didn't use the blue cheese dressing that they use because it's not good either so I used the dressing from my fridge. As picking thru the salad I find lettuce that is spotted brown with age. I'm not saying that I wouldn't get food from here again. I know that salad isn't a bar food, but it's on the menu. If that's the best you can do for a salad I would suggest removing it from the menu because if that had been the only food my family had gotten, it would have been a no for returning. I take it as a learning experience and just know not to order...
