BEST DONUT SHOP - Look no further, after visiting here and trying their donuts you'll be upset every time you have a chain restaurant donuts vs Hinkleys. They are THAT good.
This place is worthy of traveling out of your way to visit or planning a simple trip to visit Jackson alone for the Hinkley's Donuts! Everytime I'm back home this is a hot ticket item to visit!
Weekday morning aren't too busy usually but Saturday mornings are usually packed so get there right when they open. If not you may be waiting in line for awhile so plan ahead. Pro-tip: Call on Friday and place your order for a Saturday morning pickup and you can skip the line.
CASH ONLY - depending on what donuts you get, you can get about a dozen donuts for about $20-$25.
Highly recommend the Long John's (Creme and Custard Filled), Glazed Raised, Apple Fritters, Blueberry Cresents, Cream Cheese Danishes, and Donut Holes.
Never had a bad donut here. If you don't see one you like, just ask and they may have some in the back or be in the process of making a batch. They may also be able to customize the frosting to add to the donut if...
Read moreI grew up in Jackson and my mother took me to Hinkley’s, and I took my kids there... Hinkley’s has completely ruined baked goods for me. Every time I try another donut from another bakery, I immediately compare it to Hinkley’s and it fails completely. Because I no longer live in Michigan, I can’t get a good donut. One morning, in a moment of donut desperation, I called Hinkley’s from Salt Lake City and asked if they could mail me some donuts. I just wanted one delicious custard-filled chocolate long john. They laughed but agreed to do it for me. But they don’t understand- there are no good donuts anywhere now for me. And they live and work in a baked goods paradise. If only they could find a way to mail them so they don’t get all bashed up and jumbled. You can’t mix the chocolate frosting, the custard filling, and the cherry...
Read moreI've been to this shop a handful of times and always got great tasting hot and fresh donuts. Today however, not a good experience. It is Fat Tuesday. Stood outside in the cold for 1 hour just to get into the building. Then another 10 minutes to get halfway thru the line just for one of the employees to yell out, "We're all sold our except for pre orders." That was at about 9:10 am. So all of your customers that just stood in the cold now have to leave. How do you sell out of product on Fat Tuesday? What a crappy thing to do to your customers! You're not new at this business. Who dropped the ball? You were taking pre orders so you know you were going to sell a ton of donuts! I will never come back to this place. Anyone that does this crap to their customers on a day like today does not...
