Bruster's Real Ice Cream — Restaurant in Jacksonville

The cookie craze is my absolute FAV!!! I’m praying they make it a staple flavor instead of rotating. My son is dairy free and loves the brownie Sunday when they have a ice cream flavor he likes but unfortunately they rarely have flavors that he likes so he usually opts for the freeze and loves the variety of flavors for that. I am a waffle bowl or waffle cone kinda girl and usually keep it simple with Oreo and butter pecan which are both equally amazing! The Oreo has the perfect balance of ice cream with chunks of Oreo cookies perfectly blended and not those itty bitty cookie crumbs like other places. The ice cream is sooo creamy rich and flavorful. The butter pecan is the same the perfect amount of pecan halves (not the itty bitty pieces) and ice cream. I’ve only had one experience where the butter pecan didn’t taste right it was like the milk was spoiled or something but I let them know and my order was replaced right away. Be prepared to wait most of the time because it is rather popular. There are a few employees who give smaller scoops but I always address it because if I’m paying 6 dollars for 2 scoops of ice cream they better be a good size. I could get a quart of ice cream right across the street at Publix for that price and we all know Publix is a tad expensive. So don’t be afraid to speak up if this happens to you because I’ve heard a few people making comments about it and I told them the same thing. Go back and have it fixed. I always see a line outside the shop here. Ice cream is quality and has a great variety of choices. I was more than a little disappointed with them because on the day that I went it was half price for banana splits if you bring your own banana. I brought two bananas and they used both of my bananas to make the banana splits. When they gave me the bill they charged me full price for one banana split and half price for the other one. The reason that they did this they said was because they could only give one half price banana split per ticket. Had I known this ahead of time I would have only bought one banana split and given them one banana. And then I would have given them the second banana and had my son give them my card to purchase a second banana split that way I could get both bananas splits half price. Very disappointed. Haven't been back in a while and today we went back just to end up asking for a refund. I tried to explain to them that they handed me a melted blast thinner than some milkshakes I've had. They excused it with "we're short staffed" and "you can talk to my manager" and "the blast machine makes them really soft" (um, what?) so I asked for a refund instead. I tried to explain that people don't wait in 90-100° weather, in the sun, for 25 minutes to get a bad product and poor service at that - the service (and I mean the making of the ice cream, not waiting to get to the window) was extremely slow which caused the blast to sit and melt while each individual order was made with no urgency at all; she wasn't receptive so I said ok, she slammed the little screen window and proceeded to apologize to another customer for having to deal with an upset...
