China Wok — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Do not order food from this place without being comfortable with all the failed inspections. Hygiene is terrible. Bathroom is disgustingly filthy and the floor is beyond filth. It’s a real quandary when the food can taste really good and fresh 60% of the time but you may be getting more than you paid for that you didn’t want as part of your order. I keep telling myself the floor and bathroom isn’t the whole story. Update! After a visit from the board of health, these folks cleaned up painted and gave a facelift to the takeout restaurant. They changed and updated a more conscious, cleanliness procedure and prepped and made a very tasty shrimp in Chinese vegetables for me recently. I wanted to do a more recent update. They remodeled and updated the waiting area and counter and it looks so clean and pleasant. The food was fresh and cooked just as requested. In this case, I ordered shrimp with Chinese vegetables with a white sauce and it was delicious.

You watch the person who took your order turn around and go and prepare it without washing your hands after handling pens, etc., and they’re still wearing their jewelry, not so good. I looked up the food inspections and holy cow. They just don’t learn. Two or 3 failed inspection...

We moved to this area from Palm Beach county and have been looking for a Chinese restaurant up here. We tried this because it was close by. I have never, ever felt compelled give a restaurant a bad review because I know tastes are different and people working in restaurants work hard. But this food was just BAD! The pan fried dumplings- I don’t know what they really were, I had to spit it out. They looked like a gray-brown color and were wrinkly like intestines. 🤢 The Wonton soup was bland and the wontons were rubbery. The House Lo Mein just had no flavor. My husband had House fried rice and just didn’t like and his Spring Rolls were stringy and bland and he pulled some long black stringy thing from his mouth. These are some really good Chinese people and I have to admit I had a bit of a Prejudice before this because I've had bad experiences at other Chinese restaurants but I really like these people and I really like the food. Yes, prices have gone up quite a bit, just like everywhere else, so I can't complain too much but it has caused me to stop going there as much. Nevertheless I like these people I like their business. One time I accidentally left my ID up there for some reason, the next day around 10:30 at night I had a knock on my door. It was the man who took my order and he handed me my ID. I went to try and give him a few dollars in return for is trouble but he wouldn't take it .What a nice thing to do, I was only a mile away from the store if so it wasn't a very hard drive I understand but I still appreciate the hell...
