I have been consistently unimpressed with this location whether dining in or the two times I have carried out. I’m beginning to think I need to quit using this location. So I’ve eaten at several different Texas Roadhouse locations including some in other states as far as Onalaska, WI which happens to be my favorite. One thing that is consistently different at this Jacksonville, NC location is I order the sirloin and and grilled shrimp combo which states drizzled with garlic lemon pepper butter. At this Jacksonville, NC location if the shrimp is seasoned like that itself I don’t taste that flavor on the shrimp as I do at other locations but also that usually I receive a small dipping cup that usually contains a lemon pepper butter. This location only serves it with a plain liquid butter. This is the only location that I have received it this way. I did call to complain about my to go order this time and remembered to mention that. I was advised that the shrimp is only supposed to come with butter and that if I wanted lemon pepper butter I can ask for it. This is fine but that would mean every location that I have gotten this same dish has just happened to give me the lemon pepper butter automatically which seems odd. My other issue which is the reason for my review is you already pay a decent amount you should get at least the same portion size for carry out as I do if I come in and sit down. My Caesar salad was a pretty small portion size maybe a small handful where as my wife that ordered a regular house salad received a full container. My Caesar salad maybe was a quarter of the size of the container they put it in and was bathed with dressing I enjoy the dressing but that was actually a lot more than I like even. Also we received 3 rolls when we usually receive 4 in total for our two meals. When I mentioned my concerns to whichever manager came on the phone she was nice but there was a little condescending tone I was detecting although I’m not sure if that was just my interpretation of the attitude. She offered me a $7 meal ticket which I’m not even honestly sure what that means or how to receive it and told me to be sure to ask for the lemon butter next time and I think completely forgot the fact that I only received 3 rolls instead of 4 or that my Caesar salad portion size was unacceptable. So I said thanks and that was about it.
Here is the bottom line. The food was otherwise good but when I spend $43.27 for a carry out which included the recommended $3.70 tip I expect the same or better portion size as far as the salad goes as I would receive by dining in I also expect my 4 rolls. Next time if I do order from this location I will not be leaving a tip as the app already had pre filled in and will be leaving no tip. Why tip if I don’t even get exactly what I expect and won’t know in many cases unless I check at my car or when I get home. I figured it would be a good gesture for the person running the food out to the car but I didn’t even get 4 rolls. I don’t know I’m pretty disappointed and I won’t entirely sugar coat it the customer service from the manager was mediocre at best. I’m glad I had great experiences at other locations and know what I should be expecting otherwise I wouldn’t eat Texas Roadhouse at all but I’m sure this is just an oversight altogether at this location.
I will add that my last carry out order from this location was great and did have good portion sizes as far as the salad goes. The lemon butter was missing but as they told me this location only gives regular melted butter unless I ask specifically for lemon pepper butter. This time though portions were unacceptable. Being uniform on all orders is what you...
Read moreNow, let me spin you guys a yarn about some of the most mediocre service I've ever experienced. Now let me preface this by saying that I'm not from here. I live in a medium size town in Virginia that has a pretty large foodie scene. I take food service very seriously. I've worked as a cook and I've worked as a server. This did appear to be a very busy night for them and I arrived with a party of seven so I can understand some of the issues but I'm only going to talk about what I experienced.
So to start off, they had this drive through style of taking parties as they arrived. A check in center basically which is fine, just a bit odd. They told us it would be about a 35 minute wait, we waited about 50 minutes before being seated. Our server was at the table taking our drinks within 3 minutes. But we didn't receive our drinks for about another 10 minutes after she took our order. She told us that she had been double sat. Like i said, I've worked as a server and being double sat is not always fun but it still took longer than i believe it should have. She took our orders when she returned. I ordered the prime rib, my wife ordered the bone in ribeye. It was about another 45 minutes before we received any food. We didn't order appetizers, we just had the bread. After eating off of our small plates, what our server should have done was clear the used plates so that there would be more space for our entrées on the table. That did not happen at any point throughout the night. Our small plates remained on the table the entire night and i took it upon myself to make space on the table. Now onto the food. The prime rib and the ribeye were great. Cooked to a proper medium rare, i have no complaints there. The fresh vegetables i had as a side however were practically raw and devoid of all seasoning. You want your vegetables to still have a crunch but these were like eating them off of one of those veggie platters you would have at an office party. My wife's Caesar salad was a bit overdressed. The baked and mashed potatoes were fine. The music was way too loud and at a certain point the had turned it up really loud and a group of servers just started dancing in the center of the restaurant. I guess that's just how they do things here but it's less forgivable considering the quality of the service. When it came time to pay i was a little frustrated just being handed the ticket and not given one of those little notebook things. And the entire time the server just stood over us waiting for us to pay which is not something I'm accustomed to. Despite me not having an adequate experience I left a tip of 15% because I know what server life is like. I just hope that my experience was not the norm, or at least that it improves...
Read moreWe recently moved to Camp Lejeune from overseas and decided to dine at this restaurant for Friday dinner. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find it extremely crowded and were informed of a 40-50 minute wait. Although we were placed third in line, we were seated before others who had arrived before us, which seemed odd but was not initially a concern. Once seated, we noticed that the overhead light at our table was off. I informed our server, who mentioned that the light would flicker and that she would replace the bulb. However, by the time our drinks and appetizers arrived, the issue remained unresolved. After reminding her, she stated that she would notify the manager. When our main dishes were served, the light was still flickering. The server then removed the bulb, assuring us it would be replaced shortly. Unfortunately, we were left dining in without light while all other tables were well-lit. After waiting yet again, I had to bring up the issue once more. This time, instead of resolving the situation, the server brought out the manager, Melissa. Melissa explained that a child at the table the previous evening had damaged the fixture, causing a loose wire that could not be fixed simply by replacing the bulb. While I understand that such incidents occur, I expected some form of accommodation or at least an acknowledgment of our inconvenience. Regrettably, Melissa’s response was dismissive and lacked professionalism. When I questioned why the table was still being used despite the known issue, her response was condescending—she claimed she did not think it would make me upset. Her tone and attitude made me feel as though we were being treated differently, possibly because I was dining alone with my two children or due to our race. When I asked for a reasonable solution, Melissa reluctantly suggested moving us to another table. However, by that point, we were already halfway through our meal, the restaurant was packed, and there were guests waiting outside. Her apology felt insincere, and she quickly walked away without demonstrating any real concern for our experience. Overall, the poor service and lack of consideration from the management, particularly Melissa, overshadowed our meal. The food itself was average, but the way we were treated made the experience entirely unpleasant. Given the lack of professionalism and customer care, I cannot...
