Love the new look of the store. The staff is much more hospitable than they were previously.
However, with the revamp, they have changed the menu and I am not overly impressed, namely with the chicken fried rice. This was my favorite dish from here, as it was simple with only chicken, rice, and egg. I even got my coworkers hooked on it as well. But they've added corn to it now, which completely dampens and sweetens the entire flavor. It is hardly appetizing now.
Their new system is also pretty iffy. You come in, sit down, and order a buffet for $16, rather than just ordering your dishes individually. I can only eat small meals due to some personal issues, and paying $16 for the one dish I want is ridiculous. Not only that, but there's an upcharge of $0.75 per piece for leftovers, so if you do take advantage of the buffet and cannot finish, you get charged to take it home. I understand this may be the style of operation for buffets, but Wasabi was not this way beforehand and the change is deeply frustrating for people like myself who frequented beforehand. I am unsure of the current takeout system, so I will not speak on it, but regardless, not having the option to not do the buffet when dining in is ridiculous.
I was excited by the prospect of a revamp, but terrified they may change the menu. Unfortunately, they have and it is definitely not the same. I cannot recommend this place anymore, and it's sad to me, as this was definitely my favorite restaurant that I spent a lot of money at. My family and I will definitely not be dining here again unless, at the very least, the fried rice is reverted back to what it was...
Read moreMy experience at Wasabi was ok. I arrived around 3:30 today. When I first walked in, the server asked me to seat myself. The atmosphere was typical of what you would have at most wasabi restaurants, although I did hear rap music playing near the back. The menu was simple and easy to read. My order was shrimp teriyaki with a side of mushroom and chive soup, a small salad with ranch on top, and a bowl of rice. The soup was somewhat hot upon arriving bit quickly cooled. My salad had a little more ranch than expected. My rice was a little cold and seemed to have been made earlier in the day. Now, my entree. My plate was presented with a fair amount of jumbo shrimp and mayve twice the amount of vegitables (zucchini, onion, and one or two others). The Vegitables, as healthy as they may be, were drowned in the slightly-watery teriyaki sauce. They were cut very long, almost too long. You barely fit it into your mouth with one or two bites. The shrimp were a fairly good size, but seemed to be cooler than the vegitables and the sauce that they were COVERED in. Possibly frozen, but definitely did not taste anywhere near freshly caught. In all, the atmosphere was decent and the food was ok, especially for the price I paid. May give them another...
Read moreSo I came in on a Saturday. I had been there previously and it was great, no issues, but this time, not so great. I brought my grandson with me and everything was good until I wanted to place a second order. I filled out the small sheet, placed it to the side and waited. After I saw no one was coming to pick it up I finally had a ask someone could I input my second order. The lady grabbed the paper and informed me, in a rude tone, "You do know there is a surcharge if you don't eat it all." I replied, jokingly, "I am very greedy." It was one of the Asian female employess. When I finished and picked up the check I reported it to the manager. I asked him to inform her I ate all of it because she didn't want to put in my second order. I felt humiliated as if I didn't read the info about the extra charge on the menu or as if I couldn't afford to pay more I really wish I would have got that waitress' name. She truly ruined my dining experience this time around. I doubt if...
