Golden Tuzo — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

This place had all the potential to earn a five star review but they FAILED miserably.

I went in excited to order a variety of empanadas with my family. Because there are 4 of us, I was SUPER explicit of how I wanted our empanadas broken up, as to not confuse the order or mix up who ordered what, since they all look the same on the outside... I asked the young lady to keep the orders separate on the tray and I also asked TWICE if it was possible to just put them in separate bags. But the young lady insisted that she just wanted to put them in ONE box and use napkins to separate the 4 orders inside the box.

We waited while she took the empanadas into the back to warm in the oven. Once they were ready she came to the front with the box. I should've looked inside, but I get didn't and I regret it terribly.

Once we are ready to eat, I opened the box and immediately noticed that the empanadas are NOT separated the way I indicated... 🤬🤬 And there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to know who ordered what. This was my biggest concern when ordering! I even insisted to the young lady to please just put them in separate bags, but she assured me she would separate them correct. Nonetheless, the box of empanadas, and the supposed separation between the orders in the box indistinguishable! I have 12 different empanadas, in a box and ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what is inside of each.

I am LIVID, absolutely infuriated...

Because I just paid $50 for 12 empanadas that I can't even enjoy properly because I can't tell which ones are the ones I ORDERED.

Because I had to cut every single freaking empanada in half to even be able to know what is inside, which of course makes them look less than appetizing, because breaking them in half ruins the flaky crust.

Because I have a dairy allergy, my family does not, and inside the box there is a dangerous mix of meat and cheese and now I'm hangry and just want to throw the entire box in the trash.

Because my family is looking at me like a crazy person because I'm livid.

So, the moral of the story is... It doesn't matter that you offer over 20 different variations of empanadas for sale. It doesn't matter that your box is decorated for Valentine's day... or that you are nice and your restaurant is cute... and it definitely doesn't matter that MAYBE the empanadas are delicious.

You see, IF I SIMPLY CANNOT EAT THE ONES I ORDERED, then it kind of ruins the experience.

I'll never return here again and it's only because of my patient husband that I did not return to the restaurant, place the box on the counter and demand a refund.

So now I'm back in the kitchen figuring out what's for dinner with a $50 box of unappetizing, halved empanadas still sitting in the counter because even after opening them, I STILL can't tell what's inside....

Placed an order a day in advance for the next day for pickup at 3pm , arrived at 4pm & they never did the order . He mentioned he “ forgot “ & had the ticket on hand . Had to wait over 30mins . Very disappointing! After 30mins i went to pick up my order the owner saw my review ( i placed it while waiting ). The owner decided to ARGUE with me saying he wasn’t happy with review & he said he thought we fixed it , I told him fixing it is at least offering something off . & he then said he “WAS “ going to after I picked my order up ? Never heard of that . He then proceeded to continue to try to argue & say since I showed up at 4pm he could’ve sold my order ( pick up was at 3pm ) , but how can he sell it if it still wasn’t ready ? We coming to this place because we see somebody post set up a video and TikTok and we coming to check it up and my surprise was that not only is delicious and good he have a Lotta Fridays of different empanadas stuffing with all kinds of different food also they have a coffee‘s they have a water freshwater Fresca make my order piña Watermelon you name it and they make it by ordering you ask if you want sugar not sugar they do offer you the food we eat was Molly Rohall Morley birthday chorizo with potatoes sausage with cheese and that one I want to say that there it is a hot dog sausage which is who was very good for me but people who they don’t know us and they say sausage they may be speak expecting something else but definitely this place is a gem I recommend it...
