Update 5.28.25: I got a refund from the restaurant—not my intention, but I really appreciate them trying to make me feel heard and validated. Even so, I actually stopped ordering for about 6 months, but last month I gave it another shot, I ordered delivery, the cup was made just like it was the first time I went. Obviously don’t know if their service has gotten better but at least for delivery I might give it another go—I’m all for second chances. Changing my ⭐️⭐️ to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
I have been going to this Michoacana since I moved to the area about 10months ago. Loved it then but lately I have been very dissatisfied. I only go for an elote (small) and some times ice cream. The wait is usually minimum 5min and without acknowledgment of “I’ll be right with you” or anything, sometimes is just one girl but others the other one just walk back and leaves one up front by herself. Sure, I get that they probably have other responsibilities to do, but minimum say hello to the customer who is waiting. Now, the elote lately has been more topping than elote and for $5.50 plus tax Im like, wait a minute. So today I decided to ask the girl how many elotes they use and she said “only one” so I asked her to charge me for another one but to please just give me the corn because my cup was 3/4 toppings (mayo, butter, cheese) and 1/4 corn 😳. She was very nice and I know is not her fault so I hope the owners step up their game and be a little more generous with the corn. I am paying for elote so I want to eat that not mayo/butter with some corn on top 🤷🏻♀️.
📸 She added 3 spoons of cheese to fill the cup up, so I took some out. The other photo is with the refilled of corn.
So I paid close to $12 for a small cup of elote. Yes, that’s the last time.
I really hope they get better at customer service and the quality/quantity of the food for the price because is a spot many people love. In the meantime I will go back to the one I used to go even though is farther but for the service is...
Read moreI want to share an experience I had at La Michoacana on Belmont and Menard in Chicago.
I went with my 3-year-old grandson, who was so excited to order his Nutella ice cream with sprinkles. The cashier served the ice cream and before she handed it to us, I went to pay with my card, she told me: “Cash only.”
I was surprised and asked if there was any sign in the store that said cash only. She admitted there wasn’t. I explained that I had no cash on me and asked why she hadn’t mentioned it before serving the ice cream. Instead of working with us, she simply said “Sorry, cash only,” and turned to take the next customer’s order—while holding the ice cream my grandson had been waiting for.
My grandson looked at me and asked why she wouldn’t give him his ice cream. I didn’t even know how to explain it to him.
We left disappointed and without the ice cream. I truly feel this was handled poorly. A simple sign or some communication up front would have avoided a heartbreaking moment for a little boy who just wanted his ice cream. He did not understand why we were walking away from the already served ice cream.
Management should have trained her better!
I brought him to Sweet Oasis and he enjoyed his ice cream there.

Read more(12/28/23 at 7:40pm incase owner sees this and looks over the camera) Well for starters, there was only one server. And other one was in back who seemed to have noticed a line and didn’t bother to assist. The sense of urgency to fulfill an order wasn’t really there, like they lack passion and energy to keep up. During my 28-minute wait, two people left the line in front of me and one individual gave up standing behind me. I truly wasn’t gonna be super mad due to the fact I understand some days aren’t good. But I would say, the elote I ordered lacked big time. The amount of mayo, and cheese and the butter squeeze wasn’t sufficient for the big 8$ cup. The amount of corn didn’t allow for any room for the key ingredients to shine. I understand that some will say otherwise , but I believe there needs to be an exact amount or else it’s just boiled corn in a cup. The way they poured the corn in allowed for lots of corn juice to go in as well instead of it being strained before being placed into cup… I had a way better experience at the Michoacán location in the south side. Along that, the large cup at south side location is 5 bucks. I’ll next time consider other location...
