We never eat out anymore, but I was craving some queso, I didn't want to cook..So we decided to call in for carry out. I get it's a Saturday, and I'm sure they were a bit busy...but some advice staff, if someone calls and asks if they can order carry out..if you are slammed say so!! Give a wait time, something. Most of us have worked on food service & get it.
First off when the girl answered she just said Yeah. I wasn't sure at first I even called the right number. I asked if I could order carry out. She said Yeah, one minute & put me on hold..10+ minutes later, nothing.. It was just one red flag after another. This is the second time something like this has happened and prevented us from even eatting there. They insinuated last time we actually ordered they were busy, and when we got there they were dead so Idk this time if it was they were busy or lazy...It's a 50/50 anymore if the staff is kind and helpful, or trash.. idk why this location is like this, the one in New Albany is and has always been amazing. Food and staff.
Considering it's almost $50 for our usual order of 2 burritos, rice, beans, and queso that has shrank to half the size it once was. It's just not worth it. The last time we attempted to order is the same day of the last few reviews with photos of the food looking like a mess. So I guess it's a good thing the girl ghosted me tonight. We will not be back anytime soon...
We ended up going out and seeing who had the shortest line...It was Taco Bell by Rural King. They were polite, professional, that girl at the window had the cleanest, most pressed unform I've ever seen, hair neat, she was adorable. Our food was hot, correct, tasted good, extra sauce without asking, the bag was even organized so nothing was crushed, & quickly done...You got outdone by Taco Bell. Tumbleweed needs to reevaluate themselves and some of...
Read moreService is a little clunky but strangley good? In other words, the staff may be younger but fairly efficient and aside from small awkwardness of the host, seems a bit uncertain the last 2 times we dined in, she does a good job and is welcoming. The food has been excellent and fast on last 2 visits. Tumbleweed has basic queso that they try to make better using a candle...some people like the queso but I'm positive tostitos tastes far better (and definitely ANY local Mexican restaurant). Don't even try the Pueblo queso, if you're thinking it will be a good Blanco alternative, it tastes like 1/4 mushroom sauce mixed with cheese. The chips were made perfectly, not oily, soggy, or burned. Perhaps a little too much salt on last visit. The rice is so sub par here. A packaged rice would defeat this menu item any day. Other than the unfortunate queso and rice, I give the rest a high score for taste. We had the chicken burrito deluxe and the chicken wrap. The kids burgers are simple but delicious. The waffle fries are great too. Free sundae with all kids meals (you'll have to ask for them but its on the menu as free). The bathrooms are pretty clean and you can see the back line preparing your food from most seats on the north side. The guy cooking with shaggy hair could use a hair net, to be fair, but I can tell that he is very good at his job otherwise. This place has room for improvement which seems to be training, but they all seem to have a natural talent for their positions. I'll return. I've been to places far better trained and professional with much less quality/speed of service. Oh, did I mention that I can feed 3 adults and 3 children with an appetizer for under 70 dollars? 2 adults and 3 kids for under 40. Great prices, try doing...
Read moreThe story of Grecian Phoenix is a beautiful story. The Phoenix rises from its own ashes as a new bird. This Tumbleweed is a Phoenix. It has burnt down twice now and has somehow risen from its ashes to become a worse incarnation than its previous self.
My wife and I arrived here around 1:30pm on a Sunday. I made a comment about us being lucky that we caught the end of the lunch rush. We entered the building to find many tables sat but it was no means full. We were sat under a lady who was maintaining a 15 top table. She was clearly struggling with her existing 15 top but we were sat in her section anyways.
We ordered waters to drink and a large queso. After about 10 minutes our chips, salsa and drinks came out but no queso. We finished our chips and almost emptied our waters before our server came back, which im estimating was about 15 minutes.
We put in our order and our server asked if we wanted more chips. We said yes and reminded her of the queso. Eventually the queso came out but nearly 45 minutes had gone by before we saw our server again and shortly after another man brought our cold food to the 15 top asking if anyone didn’t get their food — it was ours.
We took a few bites of our cold food and between that, the queso issues, our server starting a conversation with us and turning her back and walking away on us mid conversation, and the fact that in an hour and a half we had not received a single refill, we just wanted to leave. We asked for our check twice and it took them 15 more minutes to get that ready.
The experience was miserable and I am firmly reminded that there’s a reason Tumbleweed rarely comes to mind when I think of a pleasant...
