For a really long time, Bobwhite was my go-to spot for lunch or dinner. Some of my best memories from high school were going here for lunch with friends. Even now, as a college student, I make it a point to stop by over every break. Bobwhite has also become a reunion spot for my high school friends and me, with many of us opting to go there for a good time and good food. Further, the staff at this location are excellent and are some of the nicest people I know who work in the food service industry. This review is in no way meant to harm them, as they are phenomenal workers. However, I feel the need to express my disappointment at the menu changes, specifically with the tenders box. The tender box used to have five tenders in it; however, now it is down to four, and the price is almost five dollars more than it was five years ago. I struggle to find the rationale behind this. Removing the bone in chicken to save cost and boost efficiency makes sense; however, raising the prices and shaving off the top of other items defeats this purpose. I would love to hear back from the owner about this change and I am interested in hearing his rationale for the change. I loved Bobwhite and would love to keep going to Bobwhite however these menu changes discourage me from spending my money there, and the price hikes, along with the smaller portions, feel like they are crushing the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLong-time Jersey City renter here ā been living in this town for over 5 years, finally bought my dream place two months ago (yeah, right by Bobwhite ā not even joking, that was a factor in my decision lol). As a fried chicken addict, Bobwhite was always my top pick. Absolute GOAT.
So last week, after wrapping up a huge project, I was like āletās treat myself, you earned it kingā ā pulled up to Bobwhite with my soul ready for that crispy fried chicken joy⦠only to be told they donāt sell fried chicken anymore. Just like the NYC locations. Bro. I felt like Binance just delisted BTC. That level of pain.
The staff ā bless them ā were super nice and honestly seemed just as confused. I ordered 3 tenders and tried them. Theyāre okay. Bobwhite Sauce still hits, but the chicken itself? Kinda mid. Not bad, just not that same Bobwhite magic. If I wanted tenders Iād just hit that spot in the East Village near the crosswalk ā donāt remember the name, but yāall know the "fingers". They slap.
Look ā if the OG owner cashed out, hey, I get it. Secure the bag. But if youāre reading this? Please⦠rise from the ashes and give us the real fried chicken back. Start a new brand. Something.
And to the new owner? You killed the soul of Bobwhite. I hope your business fails so hard youāre left with nothing but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was so happy to hear a Bobwhite Counter was coming to Jersey City and unfortunately COVID-19 affected my ability to leave my now (not from JC). I was able to pick it up today and my experience was as such:
Used the app which is very user friendly and pretty great if you want to show others what you are ordering. Great choice in creating an app to order.
The gentleman who provided me my food was polite and gave me my food fairly promptly, despite being a little late from work.
The fried chicken was fried lightly enough that it wasn't killing your arteries, but enough that it tasted superb. Definitely one of the better fried chicken spots in the area. My wife enjoyed her chicken biscuit and we both shared a buffalo biscuit which was great.
The only downside is that I had ordered a side (coleslaw) which I thought was a little pricey for that specific side, but I was also not provided it (though I should have checked the bag before I left, I was looking to get home), but that was the only damper on an amazing meal. Definitely 5 stars besides that...
