UPDATE: Recently saw a picture online of someone else's order of the same food. It was covered with limes, radishes and red onion. It looked beautiful - much nicer than the no-frill version we were given. I still think a few chips would a good addition. What we received was not even the bare minimum. Bummer! Pretty big oversight even for a new restaurant, especially when there were only 3-4 other people in the place.

ORIGINAL POST ----------------------------------------------------- Ordered the taco carousel and was immediately disappointed by the portions. The tacos were about 2 bites each and were not very full of ingredients. (Are the carousel tacos smaller than the individual orders?)

Plus the order lacked of lime and radishes seen in other photos. After a service charge (??), tax and tip it was about $5 a taco. Overpriced. For that price a few free chips would have been appreciated, and/or the lime/radish. 10 tacos. No frills. $50.

Came in excited and exited underwhelmed. The atmosphere matter little for the experience when walking out hungry. It should really be counter service instead of pretending to be more. Hoping it improves, but as is cannot see a reason to do so. If there was a little more value I would have raised the food score to 4 stars.

[Let me preface this by saying that we love The Franklin and so we came here with pretty high expectations]

The taco gods have answered our prayers. My friends and I kind of went crazy ordering many things off the menu because we were so excited to be eating at a new taco joint walking distance from our homes in the Heights. First things we noticed were the great tortillas - substantial, not falling apart, supportive - you won’t convince me that they don’t have someone’s tia in there, pressing these fresh. I always judge a taqueria by their el pastor and let me tell ya, they DeLiVeReD. My husband said that he enjoyed the Bistec a little bit more (and while it was very good I am an adobada girly 4eva). Also, do not skip on the taquitos. This was a group fave! where we expected semi dried protein from being fried, instead we found moist delicious chicken and we were fighting over the last piece. Welcome to the neighborhood. We are so happy to have you! Open ‘till midnight? Oh mah...

I had high hopes for this place since it recently opened and was a few blocks from my house, but I will never go here again. Maybe it was just that one server, but she had no idea what was going on. She kept trying to give me a different order and couldn't tell the difference between chorizo and mushroom. I was sat at a table with no napkins, and never got any dispite asking many times. When the food came we had to ask and wait 5 minutes for plates and utensils.

Also the food came out in like 2 minutes and was not hot so I think they just gave us food that was sitting around. Literally 4 people ordered before us and our 10 room temp tacos came out in 2 mins... Mad sus

We also got chips and guac and that didn't come out until we were well finished with our meal. We also had to remind them we ordered it many times.

The food itself had good taste but it was cold and the service was terrible. There are many other better taco establishments in the area....

Our Overall experience here was excellent! The food was good and the staff were friendly. The vibe of this place is the best part. I love the outside space, super comfy and very authentic and beautiful. Waitress took our order within five minutes, the food came out in 10 minutes and everything we had was delicious! The green salsa was very flavorful and flautas were tasty (the cheese could have been melted a little longer). The staff was super friendly and the decorations are awesome. I should also mention that they were very busy so I hope they bring in lots more business. I will definitely be going back!

Super charming Mexican eats are brightening up this section of Jersey City Heights with off street eating in the adorable back terrace. Same exceptional quality and warm hospitality as their nearby The Franklin bistro. Cactus, mushroom, pork and steak tacos went down so nice with their horchata. Planning a return for other offerings from the flautas, quesadillas and enchiladas sections of the menu. Corn tortillas made onsite!!!
