Stop & Shop — Local services in Jersey City

Unfortunately i have to say tat majority of the staff are very rude and lack in customer service.(MYA) an employee at the stop and shop at central ave and franklin street is by far one of the rudest youngest employee at that store. (MYA) lacks in assisting customers and her choice of words talking to customers is very rude and arrogant. I had a very bad experience at this store and could not even complete my purchase. The manager (MIKE)on duty of the night shift on friday july 9th 2021 was on the same level she was. His lack of performance and professionalism approaching the situation was terms of dismissal. He disregarded our concerns and the fact we were trying to voice our concerns was neglected on every single protocol concerning customer assistance his arrogant behavior when he approached my husband and i was very rude and unprofessional. He disregarded my husband's concerns and told my husband in a rude way he preferred to talk to me instead. That further made the situation more frustrating and making us more uncomfortable causing us to walk out in full rage. When walking out the store. leaving the store i find myself with the employee (MYA) in the parking lot of stop and shop on central ave/Franklin st. She yelled out profanity and was sharing the situation with another customer who walked out with her. She then explained how she put her finger up at me while working in the store at me and how she was not beat to deal with anyone's sh**!! She then attacked me. Leaving my husband no choice but to get in the center and separate her from my space she clearly violated. I will reach out to human resources /corporate concerning matter and hope that the resolution of the problem is terms of termination for MYA and Disciplinary action taken towards the manager (MIKE) on duty the day of this incident , on July 9th 2021. Wishing for a full on investigation on everyone in this store who lack in great customer assistance. Its a shame that i can not go in there to do my normal groceries as usual due to safety issues and lack of store protocol on handling and diffusing this situation. If no action will be taken i will definitely persue...

The store itself is okay and in a good condition. What annoys me most is the customer service counter. I went there last Monday 10.02.2025. in the afternoon to refund some products. We bought ingredients for a pizza party and we had some unopened food which we wont use it. So we decided to give it back instead of wasting it. When I waited at the counter, the lady looked very rude at me and shook het head. Then she spoke to another person at the counter that these people (she meant me) are collecting Stop Shop points and give back the food and keep the points. Firstly, I don‘t even have a StopShop card. Secondly, I‘m here for a vaccation. I‘m not even living in this country. When I was at the counter she threw the products rudely to the corner and was shaking her head. Seriously? Have some respect for the food. If you don‘t like this job or if you are annoyed, then quit.

People like her should first think before they speak. Don‘t judge people just because they want to refund some products. First ask whether they have StopShop card or not. Secondly, this is not our problem that your StopShop system works like that. If you want to change something, then change your system. Throwing food rudeyl to the corner? Come on… have a bit of respect. People like her should not do customer jobs. I mean I can understand when they are having a bad day. I mean, it‘s natural. But this kind of distespectful behaviour is not okay. If you don‘t like this job, then quit and don‘t make customers uncomfortable.

This adorable, small old-timey Stop & Shop grabs your heart the minute you walk in the door. The fruits and vegetables are just piled so high full of all sorts of choices: organics, exotic fruits and vegetables, I even found fresh fennel, Napa Cabbage, French green beans, beautiful asparagus, organic lettuces, everything was gorgeous. As a retired chef, I can be hard to please. I found French Triple Creme, great tenderloin steaks, frozen shrimp on sale 1/2 price, organic eggs, Nature's Promise Organic milk and uncured bacon all at fair prices. They had just about everything packed inside this place, even a few plants and a tiny corner with OTC meds and a little cubby with Italian bread from Brooklyn Bakery. The manager and the cashier were so nice, it was my first time there and I asked the cashier Ivan if I had to have a Stop & Shop card to get the sale, and he said yes but this time I'll take care of you, you can get it next time when you come. I'll be back even though there are lots of other choices around in Jersey City, this place made me feel like I was HOME even though I am new in town....
