Sol Azteca used to be an "ok" option for fairly priced Mexican Food delivery in Jersey City. The food was not cheap, but it was reasonable for downtown Jersey City. And let's face it, their are many of other solid options for Mexican Food in Jersey City. Recently I ordered from Sol Azteca and was very disappointed to see how much they raised their prices. They literally took a Blue Pen to the menu and just crossed off the prices of everything. Very professional job. See the attached pictures. It was also not as if they raised the prices 50 cents on each item. But even cheap items went up multiple dollars. Chips and Guac went from $5 to $7 (40% increase). Small side of Guac (big enough for just one person) went from $3 to $4 (33.3% increase). And everything else literally went up about 20% on the menu. For what it is worth, I do not think I will be frequenting here anymore. They can prob still sell food on seemless or grubhub at these prices but as a local I will take my business to other Mexican places in town now that Sol Azteca is one of the most expensive options here.

The menu sounded great, which is why it ordered but unfortunately, it fell short. We ordered via DoorDash on a Wednesday evening. We ordered a few tacos (I had lengua, which was pretty flavorless), an al pastor burrito, and a chorizo quesadilla. The al pastor meat was acceptable, but there was barely any al pastor in it. The burrito was mostly rice, which is one of my pet peeves. The chorizo quesadilla was probably the best part of the meal, even though it was pretty oily. But hey, it is chorizo after all so what can you expect? Another highlight was the red hot sauce. I'm not sure if it's homemade or not but it was excellent - tangy with the right amount of spice. We also ordered a Mexican Coke, which was missing and all they said was that they did put it in the order and that we would need to sort it out with Door Dash. After the meal, we found ourselves chugging water since everything made us so thirsty. Overall, it was average Mexican food, so probably won't be ordering from here again.

I ordered this for one of my clients because the price seemed reasonable. I was going to pick up the food and didn't see the venue at first. I finally found it and walked into a dimly lit place that was a bar and grill. I was greeted when I walked in and I proceeded to tell the server behind the bar I was there for a pick up. He knew what I ordered and put everything together for me. The server was very nice. I took the food to my client and took my share home. Everything looked and smelled great. The food was pretty good. I order grilled vegetables with rice and it was a good amount of food and everything was reasonably priced.

I've been eating here for years... The BEST mole enchiladas and breakfast burrito in the area. I've done lots of tests and keep coming back here. Their mole is made in house by an auntie (part of the family). It has incredible flavor - I get the cheese enchilada (it's Mexican so grilled not gooey). Their rice and beans are super flavorful. I honestly rate Mexican places based on how good their rice and beans are (like if you can't do the basics, then ...). And then their breakfast burritos. Perfect blend of egg, potato, cheese, onion/peppers, and spices. It's a reasonable size so you can enjoy it without being in a food coma. I love the family atmosphere here - truly a mom and pop. Only recently have I started dining in - and wow, the food is even better! This place has amazing food. Skip the burritos and go for the mole enchiladas. With the exception of their breakfast burritos - don't forget to try those too (offered all day). I always forget to...
